True. It is a key failure that we can invent our way out of the problems we invented our way into. And that highly complex systems respond to super-simplistic technical solutions. We're going to solve CO2 with all this new tech. Not alone do we not solve CO2, we create a whole range of other problems.
We can keep on growing, keep on enjoying our conveniences, just change the energy source. The Growth Death Cult has all the easy answers.

Google essentially bricked my Pixel 4a by artificially borking the battery life. I had to get a new phone (not a Pixel 😂 )
Amazon has removed Tidal from the Fire Stick marketplace. I'm not about to start using Amazon Music or Spotify.
My Pixel is now sitting next to my TV, permanently wired. I connect it to my soundbar via Bluetooth and play music from my Tidal account on the phone.

* direct water footprint for cooling
* indirect water footprint for power generation
* indirect water footprint for wastewater treatment (water used for cooling apparently has to be treated for unusual contaminants, biocides etc. to keep the tubes clean, using more water than the wastewater mass alone)
Edit: from iopscience.iop.org/article/10.… which I found cited for the '5 million' number in a washington post article
