Oh my LORD. Patrick Braxton is a Black man who was elected mayor of Newbern, #Alabama in 2020, the first time the majority Black residents were actually allowed to vote. Yes, you read that right. He only served a year before unelected white officials once again tried to bar him from serving. He had to fight a court battle, and he just got reelected in a landslide.
