First day of school for my kids. They acted all cool yesterday but they still woke up earlier than usual. They're excited even if they don't admit it.
I am anxious too. In fact I even had trouble sleeping. My eldest is starting middle school today and my mind races worrying about the bike commuting he has to do every day and adolescence knocking at the door.
The youngest has a new teacher this year. I hope she is good.

Ein paar Gedanken.
Die Forderung nach allgemeiner Wehrpflicht, also die Bewaffnung der durchschnittlichen (männlichen) Bevölkerung und ihre Ausbildung an den Waffen, war im 19. Jahrhundert eine linke Forderung, keine rechte.
Kritik an Militarismus bedeutete Kritik an Berufsarmeen, die (aus Steuergeldern bezahlt) der Regierung untergeben waren und potenziell gegen das eigene Volk eingesetzt werden konnten. Wenn die Armee aus dem eigenen Volk gebildet würde, wäre das nicht so leicht möglich, so die linke Argumentation.
Die Pariser Kommune 1871 z.B. war nur möglich, weil die Pariser (männliche) Bevölkerung eine 200.000 Kopf starke Nationalgarde hatte, der alle Schichten, auch Arbeiter, angehörten (die damit bewaffnet waren).
Generell auch heute das Problem: Eine Armee, die nur Freiwillige einzieht, zieht mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit überproportional Kriegsfreunde wenn nicht gar Rechtsradikale an, die dann Waffen bekommen und in ihrem Gebrauch ausgebildet werden. Immer wieder verschwinden ja Waffen aus den Beständen der Bundeswehr. In den USA ist der Anteil der Waffenbesitzer unter weißen republikanischen Männern deutlich höher als in anderen Bevölkerungsgruppen.
Eine Wehrpflicht nur für Männer würde außerdem bedeuten, dass alle Männer an Waffen ausgebildet werden, Frauen aber nicht oder viel seltener.
Ich schreibe das nicht, weil ich finde, daraus folgt irgend etwas automatisch. Ich finde bloß, dass das Aspekte sind, die in der Debatte irgendwie eine Rolle spielen sollten, oder nicht?
Denn sie keine Rolle spielen zu lassen können wir uns nur leisten, wenn wir hundertprozentiges Vertrauen in die langfristige Stabilität des demokratischen Rechtsstaates haben, auf den wir uns verlassen können und der unser aller Schutz im Zweifelsfall garantiert.
Das mit den Kündigungen ist damals komplett an mir vorbeigegangen.
Wundert mich aber überhaupt nicht.
@lies_dasIch kann dazu die Schriften des Historikers Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk (in der DDR aufgewachsen, zu Zeiten der "Wende" Regierungsberater) empfehlen.
Er spricht sehr deutlich von einer "Übernahme" (nicht notwendigerweise "feindlich") und erläutert auch, weswegen er das so bezeichnet (auch eines seiner Buchtitel, wenn ich mich gerade richtig erinnere).
Es gibt auch interessante Podcasts mit ihm, in denen er aus dieser Zeit berichtet.
Viel Neues, für mich, der ich in Süddeutschland aufgewachsen bin und seit Ende '92 in Dresden (mit 10 Jahren Unterbrechung) lebe, weil er viel aus dem gesellschaftlichen Alltag der DDR erzählt, was mir komplett unbekannt war.

He has different teachers and many different subjects now, soon he will need to commute alone and he shouldn't forget things 🤯
