Il governo Netanyahu progetta l’annessione del 60% della Cisgiordania

Un retroscena del Times of Israel riporta che durante l’ultima riunione del gabinetto di sicurezza del governo Netanyahu VI si è discusso dell’escalation contro la città di Gaza, e della possibilità di annettere parti della Cisgiordania. Il governo non ha discusso invece, eventuali accordi o soluzioni che avrebbero potuto portare al rilascio dei prigionieri israeliani ancora a Gaza, tant’è che alla riunione non è stato invitato il maggior generale Nitzan Alon, che è responsabile per le IDF dei negoziati sui prigionieri. Della possibilità di annettere formalmente parti della Cisgiordania si parlava da qualche giorno — i ministri della destra più estrema del governo vorrebbero che il processo di annessione fosse almeno avviato prima dell’Assemblea generale delle Nazioni Unite, la cui sessione durerà dal 9 al 29 settembre. Axios ne ha parlato con tre funzionari israeliani, statunitensi e comunitari, che hanno confermato che la conversazione nel governo Netanyahu è seria. La variabile principale è la posizione di Trump: durante la propria prima amministrazione Trump aveva fermato due volte le aspirazioni coloniali di Tel Aviv sulla Cisgiordania, ma i funzionari israeliani ora scommettono che gli si possa far cambiare idea, giocando sulla collera del presidente contro gli alleati che hanno deciso di rompere con gli Stati Uniti per riconoscere lo stato palestinese. La minaccia possibilità di annettere parti della Cisgiordania è stata espressa anche direttamente agli stati europei che hanno intenzione di riconoscere lo stato palestinese: un funzionari europeo ha rivelato che il ministro degli Affari strategici Dermer avrebbe indicato che Tel Aviv potrebbe decidere di annettere tutta l’“Area C” della Cisgiordania — l’equivalente del 60% del territorio totale.
