Word spread through social media that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had reportedly checked into two Long Beach hotels.
Within the hour, a small contingent of local residents had arrived at both establishments.
They were there to make sure ICE agents didn’t sleep.
This was one of several
“No Sleep for ICE” events
that popped up during the month of June.
In a time when large-scale protests often dominate headlines,

This is the most wholesome blog I've read in a long time.

OK. So we all hate it when local small businesses ONLY have Facebook or other corp social media presence. Especially businesses whose clientele are the most "at risk" social groups. They are immediately disenfranchised.
Talking about indie clubs, stores, eateries, shops, bars etc. So what are the low cost, privacy forward, turnkey web solutions that allow them to have their own open web site and post events and news and etc AND cross post to big social? Where do we point them?

They believe they need big social to exist and probably right
Big social makes it dead simple for them and free
So they need a dead simple free or cheap turnkey solution that allows them to have an "#openweb first" approach that includes auto crossposting to big social second

The local carnival posts all of its important info on Facebook and it drives me crackers, because I want to go and support it but don't use anything Meta-adjacent. They just embed the Facebook page on their website too instead of blogging from there. 🙃
