I really don't think Burnham is going to happen.
First he has to become a Labour candidate for a by-election. Even if the new deputy leader is sympathetic (they get an NEC seat), presumably the party can block that.
Then he has to win a by-election. This is very difficult right now. A different group of people vote in a by-election to a general election. A lot of them to go to Reform or to Gaza protest candidates (Green, independent, etc).
Then he needs 80 MPs to endorse him.
Then he needs to win a leadership election...
It's worth a shot, and if he raises the important issues, it's a good thing.
But even so, will he actually be Labour leader before the next election? I doubt it.
