As someone who gravitated towards it something like a decade ago because of my configuration management experiences it has been really noticeable that it has become way more popular than it used to be. Felt like validation as I felt some of its ideas are the way forward as soon as I ran into it.
Is it #NixOS or just #Nix that’s popular? NixOS is cool, but not for everyone. Personally I prefer using the Nix package manager with Home-Manager on another distro. It gives me the reproducibility without locking me into a full immutable system.
I’ve tried NixOS, but it takes a fair effort to really learn the Nix language. I don’t love immutable OS setups, but I do love how Home-Manager and flakes make cloning and syncing environments across machines a breeze
I'm literally trying to find any reputable distro for my relative that's going to be stranded when Windows 10 goes *poof* next month.
The only reason I don't want to use Debian is the semi-annual updates get kind of long in the tooth, and it lacks a "flicker-free boot" mode, meaning the GRUB prompt will look tiny, and the disk encryption prompt will be in text mode, which is a bit jarring.
But I'm looking up and down the entire distrowatch list, and it's all Debian based (probably better just to use Debian), Ubuntu-based (ehh, nah), Arch-based (no way, got bit in the butt twice with that), and Fedora-based (I get that it's generally very well liked, but IBM gives me the creeps, so I dunno).
I guess I'm going to just go with Debian. XD
P.S., I was interested in OpenSuSE, but the current Leap seems to be on a pretty old version of Plasma, and Slowroll is still in beta, so I'm afraid of breakage.
@rl_dane @pfr With plymouth, disk decryption can be graphical (I have that set up currently on my Pocket Reform to test @josch's work in that area) and I guess you could make GRUB invisible if needed.

io oscillo tra 39 e 40 dipende dai modelli quindi essendo scarpe da ginnastica ho preferito il 41 per essere tranquilla. se di solito il 46 non ti dà problemi forse una mezza misura in più basta. prova a misurarti il piede e vedi la tua lunghezza a che loro numero corrisponde
