Broke one of my favourite mugs again. 🙁
It became my favourite after I chipped it and repaired it, kinda. But this time it fell out of my cabinet (which is weird, cuz I always put it in the back?) and gained a hairline fracture at the base. No chips; I didn't even notice until I poured tea into it. So I really can't repair it this time. RIP, cat mug.
Really hyped about my new #homeserver and what I can do with it. Learning new possibilities every day when researching #selfhosting topics. I think the last time I had a real PC functioning as a 24/7 server at home was more than a decade ago.

But maybe you're thinking about the hardware + zram + linux setup? For easy use it will probably be more than enough, but many applications and sites hog resources like crazy these days.
I haven't met many people who has ever touched a profiler unfortunately.

in reply to simendsjo • • •The people I'm thinking of giving this to have no skills to maintain a Windows, Mac, or Linux system. A system thats preconfigured with everything they'd want and then just works for a few years and can be upgraded by bringing it back and asking to update it is just what they need... At most they need flatpak for updating the browser in between. They aren't gonna look under the hood so what's there doesn't much matter to them.

They really dont because they aren't gonna use them anyway. Think people still running windows 8. The updates can come by bringing the device to an update event where we install a new guix system image we've crafted from tested versions.
Flatpak for browser updates is already better than what they've got.
