Having sympathy for Americans who complain about the police state and do nothing about it isn't easy.

Even more important, these models are expensive to run. Even if a bankrupt AI company’s model and servers could be acquired for pennies on the dollar, even if the new owners could be shorn of any overhanging legal liability from looming copyright cases, even if the eye-watering salaries commanded by AI engineers collapsed, the electricity bill for each query – to power the servers and their chillers – would still make running these giant models very expensive.

The image is a screenshot of a social media post by Tracy Crest, dated September 26, 2025. The post is titled with a quote about sequoias and their resilience. The background of the post is orange, and the text is in black. The post discusses the misconception that sequoias survive because of their size, emphasizing their resilience instead. It mentions that sequoias can endure droughts, fires, storms, and climate shifts. The author, an engineer, highlights the paradoxical nature of sequoias' survival, noting that their shallow roots (6-12 feet deep) are unusual for a 300-foot tree. The post explains that sequoias' survival is due to their extensive root systems, which spread 50-80 feet wide and interweave with other trees. The post includes a photo of sequoia trees, showing their massive trunks and the forest environment.

The 300 lapper late model race at Martinsville is in weather delay and I'm probably falling asleep before it is over, but I'm filling my time by listening to Vivid by Living Colour which is a great album I've really slept on.

So banning guns wouldn't reduce gun deaths 🤔
It seemed to substantially reduce numbers here in Aus
in reply to Godfrey642

@Godfrey642 @AndrewHS
There's a big difference between dogs and guns.

Most guns (except for actual toys like popguns and nerf guns) are specifically designed for killing, leaving no doubt about their danger. Also some guns are clearly capable of killing more people due to having a higher fire rate and/or larger magazine. These are objective measures. I think there can be no reasonable doubt that banning some gun types and regulating others reduces gun deaths, and we now have many years of statistics in Australia to support this argument.

I think it's much less certain with dogs. Admittedly some breeds were bred for hunting, and larger dogs in particular are more dangerous if they do attack, but I think there's some doubt about how aggressive those breeds are relative to others, and that leads me to doubt the value of just banning specific breeds.

If there's some place that has banned such breeds and has long-term statistics showing some effect, I'm happy to be educated.

Americans are all bootlicking Commies now.

Many Americans ignored tyranny at first because they thought tyranny was just for smokers, drunk-drivers, junkies, sex offenders, illegal immigrants, Muslims, or blacks.

Now that the police state has become so obvious, Americans seem to be trying to justify tyranny by pretending nothing will get worse.

Americans are not thinking about the future mandatory microchip implants, cash bans, permanent lockdowns, Internet shut downs, and strip-searches.

Trump has signed a little-noticed national security directive
identifying “anti-Christian” and “anti-American” views as
indicators of radical left violence.

Called National Security Presidential Memorandum 7,
it’s being referred to as “NSPM-7” by administration insiders.

“This is the first time in American history that there is an
all-of-government effort to dismantle left wing terrorism,”
Trump’s homeland security advisor Stephen Miller said, referring to the issuance.

To the extent that the major media noticed the directive at all,
they (even C-SPAN!) incorrectly labeled it
an “executive order,” like this week’s designation of “Antifa” as a domestic terrorist organization.

Also abseits der selbstverständlichen wissenschaftlichen Akribie.

Was bringt ihr uns?"

Was Geschlechter und kulturelle Herkünfte anbelangt.
