Yes, choosing the Fediverse is a political choice, just as choosing a commercial surveillance platform is a political choice.
I use the Fediverse to learn about the politics I'm exposed to, of those around me, and even to advance my own political agenda.
But I chose "Yes, but..." because I also use the Fediverse for pure entertainment: Caturday pictures and BikeNite discussions.

So, I can say that given the observations made by myself, my hubby and my neighbors, the bumblebees have made a HUGE comeback in #SouthernMaine this year (despite the drought)! There were very low #Bumblebee populations last year (more #CarpenterBees and #honeybees and a few smaller #NativeBees). A lot of us are #GardeningForPollnators and #GardeningWithoutChemicals , so I think that's helping!
