"Researchers have found that the carbon footprint of generative AI-based tools that can turn text prompts into images and videos is far worse than we previously thought.

As detailed in a new paper, researchers from the open-source AI platform Hugging Face found that the energy demands of text-to-video generators quadruple when the length of a generated video doubles — indicating that the power required for increasingly sophisticated generations doesn’t scale linearly.

For instance, a six-second AI video clip consumes four times as much energy as a three-second clip.

“These findings highlight both the structural inefficiency of current video diffusion pipelines and the urgent need for efficiency-oriented design,” the researchers concluded in their paper.

Experts are warning that we’re rolling out generative AI tools without a full grasp of their true environmental impacts."

I’m not sure what to think about PR’s where 90% of the changes are just different indentation, rewritten comments or just reordering code.

I mean, I appreciate the effort, but I’m not going to merge such a PR. If you don’t like my indents or comments, we can have a discussion about it, but don’t try to sneak in changes through a PR. Although I’m very much aware that a lot of such rewrites may have been done automatically, either by specific editor settings or some sort of “AI” agent.

But still, you get a "thank you very much” but also a “..but I won't merge unless that 90% is reverted back to its original”.

È un bootleg, ovvero è una copia cinese, vecchia e fatta non benissimo, di un MG Astray Red Frame, che a sua volta è un kit così così anche in originale.
La qualità della plastica è bassa, il fit non sempre è perfetto, e richiede un po' di colla.
È fatto da Daban, la marca che ha prodotto una marea di copie tra cui il modello che monteremo insieme in live a partire da sabato prossimo.
Nel frattempo dovrebbero aver imparato due cosette, tranquilli!
