<p>La Asamblea de la Juventud Trabajadora (AJT) de Getafe ha denunciado el método de sorteo de viviendas públicas del Ayuntamiento local, calificándolo de "show para pobres" y "sorteo de la miseria". El pasado lunes 19 de enero, miembros de la organización increparon a la alcaldesa del municipio, Sara Hernández. En un vídeo-comunicado difundido tras la acción de protesta, la AJT declaró: "Estamos cansadas de que monten este espectáculo con nuestra vivienda. Esto que veis no es la lotería, es un sorteo. El sorteo de la miseria".</p><p>Criticaron duramente la "teatralización y la frivolidad que supone convocar tal espacio para sortear una necesidad vital para nuestra clase como es la vivienda". La AJT afirmó que el evento sirve al Ayuntamiento para realizar "un lavado de cara en toda regla", mientras que "las medidas relacionadas con la construcción de nuevas viviendas se han mostrado insuficientes o directamente deficientes, cuando no claramente contradictorias", poniendo como ejemplo la situación del barrio de La Aviación.</p><p>La protesta y el comunicado señalan directamente a la clase política y empresarial: "Políticos profesionales y empresarios, ¡sois parte del mismo problema!". A dark-colored car, with its front end damaged from an accident, sits parked by a curb on a city street. Its right (viewer’s left) headlight is smashed in and completely missing, with the underlying mechanism exposed. In front of the car, a small discarded Christmas tree lies on its side. These two unrelated objects give the impression of a crime scene, where the poor tree is a victim that’s been hit by the car. Although I took this photo in broad daylight, I edited it to appear as if it were taken at dusk, with cooler tones and moody shadows. I also put it in a frame with black borders, with some orange text and numbers on one side, as if it were a vintage photographic print — perhaps photo evidence taken by the criminal investigators. (In the background, the side wall of a building displays a large spray-painted image of a flag with two color fields, blue over yellow — in honor of Ukraine, the scene of a real ongoing crime.)

I'm making slow progress on my latest French knot piece. Slow because I don't want to work on it and am procrastinating but also now even the colors look ugly and off to me. I'm using a 2-ply yarn I spun from a bump of Three Waters Farm hand painted roving that was out of my color comfort zone with purples and pinks. My white suburban lady hand and an embroidery stand clamp holding an enormous wood quilting hoop (seriously: it's a foot in diameter) with a very large heart outline in rose gold purl. The heart is partially filled in starting the top center and lower left with French knots in sections by color so that they look like parts of a map. The colors are pairs of the following: burgundy, deep inky purple, brown, pink, aqua, royal blue, yellow or straw, grass green, and deep forest green.
