One thing that I will say is that whenever transphobic people talk about all the experiences I will never have and how I'll never know what it's like to have certain bodily functions, I legit feel devastated. I was devastated when it clicked for me the first time. It's just grief that I was born with, really.
I legit spent a good hour yesterday sobbing over it.
I didn't have a choice in the matter. I'm personally just trying to hold onto my victories wherever possible because otherwise I'll just be a crying mess.

Old snap I took during #momaps1 Julien Ceccaldi exhibition, #lomomatic110 with OrcaBW #110film
While this is part of a global trend, PS1 exhibitions are always great at working with the museum space as an integral part of the curation. Current Ayoung Kim and Vaginal Davis exhibits are great examples of how they approach usage of space as part of the narrative as well.
Speaking of space - I've used quite a number of 110 cameras by now, and lomomatic is turning out to be a unique beast among them. Shots I take with 110 shooters of the era, like the Minolta I took on my train trip, render as expected within the film mask. The image is designed to sit within the frame.
The lomomatic, I'm beginning to realize, might be intentionally engineered to have its images spill out into the frames. I like it, but I can also see other photographers not being too crazy about it.

Andi is an RN from Oregon — she and her wife are buying a house in #Comox and she'll be working in #Nanaimo at NRGH!

I just love how so many pieces of the puzzle are fitting together to win us more nurses and doctors — Island Health, their recruiters, HealthMatch BC, the BCCNM, the Ministry, so many make this happen.

so clever to attack iran and create the next generation of foreign terrorists so that the burden of destroying the US doesn't fall solely on the overworked domestic terrorists known as ICE.

#Trump on Monday pushed back against mounting criticism that he hasn’t done enough to explain why it was necessary to start a #war with #Iran now or to articulate his vision for an endgame to the escalating conflict.
The frustration is coming not just from the political left but also from his MAGA base, as the conflict expands, #energy #prices surge, & the #death toll in the #Middle East rises in a war that the admin suggests may only be in the opening stages.

I liked the essay here
“Morris notes that support for attacking Iran has held fairly steady for months and remains so after the strikes, with 34% in favor of them and 44% opposed.
This is incredibly low support for a foreign war, Morris writes, and support for military action tends to be highest at the start of a war. Trump's attack on Iran scorns the will of the people and their constitutional right to decide whether they want to pay for a war with their money and their lives. That disdain for democratic government reveals that Trump's military adventure against Iran is also, fundamentally, an attack on the United States of America.”

And really, setting that aside, turning being a woman into a cult of motherhood is not a great thing. Many women have non reproductive relationships, and many born-female women don't have the normal bodily functions that other women do. It's kind of narrow to gatekeep them, for something they literally cannot change. And much of these women would jump at the opportunity to change it in a heartbeat, myself included.
And really, I would say I was born aligned with the societal "female" box in a neural/psychological way (in the same way I was born with ADHD, I would say), but I need a little bit of help to have my body follow suit. I think people need to really understand. This isn't a choice. This isn't something I can change. I can't act like I'm different than what I am. And there is a lot of grief surrounding certain parts of my body that I feel that is very fucking rude for people to point out. Very fucking rude.
And one last addendum, the changes I am seeing while I transition are themselves biological changes. They are the same exact characteristics I would exhibit if my SRY gene was knocked out, down to the cellular level. The cells in my body can't tell the difference between this estrogen and endogenous estrogen.

in reply to Jackie • • •I'm legit doing my best here.
I'm trying to do what I need to do for myself.
And people who rub in the limitations, the people who go off about how I'll never truly get it or whatever, can go shove it.
Because it's not my fault I don't have those things. If it were something I could change, I FUCKIN WOULD. It KILLS me that there are some things I can't fix. But so help me god I would fix it if given the opportunity.
What I CAN do, what I DO have control over, is better than nothing. I can adapt how I present. I can medically transition, and change a lot of the aspects of my sex in the process. I can try my best to nurture female friendships. Etc.

What would you do?
Jackie
in reply to Jackie • • •It is a very superficial and insulting reading to assume that I am not going through things that other women go through.
I might not be able to understand some very specific things, but there are many things that I understand very very well and are in fact unavoidable.
And there is suffering that I go through, that you will never be able to understand.
