Just as Martin Niemöller's "First They Came" has become our framework for understanding the rise of fascism in Nazi Germany, so, too is Wilhoit's Law the best way to understand America's decline into fascism:

I'm curious as to how you apply this idea to whole "IP law" business. I have particular interest in both preservation/archival and fanworks (even the most legally dubious fanworks, like romhacks), but there are *lots* of problems with both copyright and patents as they currently stand. Not to mention, abuse of scraping by "AI" companies has left a lot of people opposing not merely that, but archival as a whole (prompting them to label it "stealing" like corpos do; intentional?).

...and, apparently, completely missing that this is the entire selling point of an Android phone over an Apple one, between the two big names.

Sadly, getting any other kind of phone than those two seems maddeningly difficult.

Hilariously, Trump administration lawyer Stan Woodward has the Niemöller quote on a yard sign in his front lawn in DC. At 7:15am this morning, masked ICE agents stopped a landscaping truck just a few feet from his house and detained three men. As it turned out, Stan did not come out of his house to speak for them.
