Punchline: they haven't had a full staff on hand since he took power and fired half the work force. They might still be short-staffed next week.

It's hard to tell how strategic Musk's behavior is here. He seems to be willing to take a financial loss in order to promote anti-Semitism.

Musk has been interacting with and promoting openly anti-Semitic material for months now (see screenshot for an example). From the beginning of his acquisition of Twitter right up to today, nothing he has done makes sense from a purely financial viewpoint. It's bad enough to be driven only by the desire for financial gain, but he is apparently even more hateful and destructive than that.

Is there something about automobile executives specifically that makes them raving racist anti-Semites? Henry Ford is another such case.

Important to add that the ADL
