⚠️ This is the post that Mastodon Social took down.

Can you see any harassment?

Can you see any violence or sexual imagery?

Can you see any hate speech?

No.

What you see is a very polite comment suggesting the lessons of history have not been learned.

Those disgraceful mastodon social admins have done this too often - undermining anti-genocide voices.

I have told them I will take formal action via the relevant German regulators.

Shame on them. Shame.

in reply to Tariq

The contents of the post itself are not objectionable. The problem is with putting them under a post by the Auschwitz Museum, and the volume at which this happens. Our moderation policy is relatively straightforward: Criticism of Israel is permitted, Holocaust inversion is not.
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron I get that too frequent mentions can be a behavior that can border on harassment (intentional or not). I have a clarifying question about your moderation policy, if you allow me: Is it allowed to post articles of authors like Masha Gessen, receiver of the Hannah Arendt Prize for Political Thought, who has compared Gaza to Jewish ghettos under Nazi occupation? @rzeta0
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron

The original post is restating the very mission of the Museum.

That we should learn the lessons of history.

That we should never allow this to happen again.

The problem is not the post . The problem is the mastodon admins showing projection and bias.

---

And listen to yourself, you're telling people not to reply to the Museum with messages that restate their own mission.

I won't convince you, but others reading this can see clearly see what you're saying.

in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron The concept of Holocaust inversion is a means of preventing criticism of Israeli crimes. Israel is a fascist state replicating what was done to their ancestors on a new set of victims, partially because they want what the victims have, and partially to make themselves feel strong. Notice that their victims are the same people that the German neofascists have chosen as victims...and German law prohibits speaking about it.
in reply to Tariq

This is selective never forgetting. I wonder what was in the Auschwitz Museum post that you replied to?
in reply to Szescstopni

@Szescstopni

One of their many posts which support their mission of "Never Again".

They have a good mission.

I support it.

It is Mastodon Social admins that are in the wrong, not the Museum.

in reply to jmcnaughton

@jmcnaughton @Szescstopni

And Erik's account is also censored on Dot Social, because of fucking course it is. But I have read Erik's post and the points it makes do need to be addressed, it is sad to think that the Museum has been fully captured today by the propaganda arm of Israel

in reply to Adam

@adamsaidsomething @jmcnaughton @Szescstopni

The entirety of mainstream Holocaust remembrance has been neutered to be in line with the capitalist and imperialist policies of the Western world. Liberal institutions and right-wing institutions are structurally unable to integrate the lessons of the holocaust, because if they did, it would reveal that they are on track to making it happen again.

@adamsaidsomething @jmcnaughton @Szescstopni

The only "safe" lesson of the Holocaust, and one that completely misses the actual root causes, is that Jews are exceptional and this exceptional-ness makes them deserve an ethnostate.

But what about discrimination? Concentration camps? Dehumanizing propaganda images of "disease" and "racial defilement"? Ethnonationalism? Monopoly Capitalism? Antisemitic conspiracy theories? All of these are just fine coming from the world's governments and oligarchs, just as long as they support Israel, take a free trip to the remains of a Nazi death camp in Europe, and make creepy philosemitic overtures!

I am going mad.

@adamsaidsomething @jmcnaughton @Szescstopni

Someone could literally make their own "Der Sturmer" and say that Jews run the world, just as long as they are a Zionist. Then like 60% of non-Jews and 50% of Jews will give them a free pass to do whatever they want!

in reply to Tariq

some mod must have you in their radar because some of my posts had similar content and none were removed.
in reply to FelisCatus

@FelisCatus

I have no proof but I suspect some people watch certain accounts and keep reporting them in an attempt to silence those voices

in reply to Tariq

Dammit, time to switch instance then 🫤

At least glad that the fediverse was built to counter exactly that sort of thing.

The net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it - John Gilmore

in reply to ScoTTY

@sco_tty tbf, that's the problem with a mega instance like mastodon.social. it's too big.

Better to be on a smaller instance (the whole idea of the fediverse in the first place) where mods have more time to look at reported posts (I assume OP's post was reported by... someone 🤷 ).
Even if it would have been removed by mistake on a small instance, you could easily reach out to the mod team and ask what happened

in reply to Tariq

Move to another instance or even better run your own server. In the latter case no one will be able to censor you
in reply to Tariq

That is clearly “antisemitism”! If you have to ask you’re obviously Hamas!

/s

Dot social is a German run instance I believe and their entire society is utterly neurotic about supporting the entity. The number of German presenting people I’ve encountered who are completely brainwashed by the hasbara is not even funny. It’s like some weird Manchurian candidate just with support for genocide and apartheid.

Unreal.

For the record: #fuckisraelfreepalestine

in reply to Mogleg

@Mogleg it's quite ironic how the Germans keep misunderstanding the assignment of doing the right thing and not ending on the wrong side of history
in reply to Clarissa

@clarissawam @Mogleg surely, that is some encouragement. I wish it weren't slowly, I am continuously coming across videos of German cops beating the shit out of Pro-Palestine protesters. The violence with which they target the protesters is downright appalling and Nazi-like. Then, there's the law requiring new citizens to show allegiance to Israel. The power structures in Germany keep perpetuating the country's historical infamy out of what? A misapprehension of their collective shame?
