Today we’re quietly (and finally!) opening up Railfinder to the public! This is our beta version and - hopefully - the first step towards that one booking site for trains across Europe that we all dream of.

Lots of work has gone into this and equally lots still to do before reach that vision, but if you’d like to try what we’ve built you can now just go to railfinder.eu and have a go!

Any and all feedback more than welcome 🙏

@bimba Sorry about this! We’re just coming from internal testing and had a long list of fixes to do and didn’t quite expect this big of a splash right away. Will fix this in the coming days!

Thank You for showing us where Your priorities lie. In the meantime I guess You pinky promise not to be evil. And correct me if I'm wrong but it's not Free or Open Source? At least so it seems from Your empty github

@bimba We haven’t yet open sourced anything, but we really want to. A few components we won’t be able to for various boring reasons, but all interactions with open standards etc are written as libraries that are intended to be open sourced. We just need to get a few steps more resources so we can be a reasonable maintainer of the projects.

And for the nerds among us, we have a page on all the details that went into this - including our initial ticket coverage & how the search works: railfinder.eu/how-it-works

Ask me anything!

I should also add that we’re actively working on some technical issues that happen a bit more often than we’d like. Hopefully we’ll catch and fix the more common of the errors in the coming days - this is one of the reasons we start as a beta and wait a bit before launching too widely 🤫
