in reply to kcp • • •@kcpoole Them demanding papers like that is not consistent with the law, except for border patrols within 80 (?) miles of the border.* To arrest or search they need probable cause and race/location/activity is not under probable cause. SCOTUS has upheld many protections over the years.
Unfortunately there is no one with balls/ovaries/etc, power, and ethical compass to uphold the law. And they egregiously violate so many laws it's impossible to keep up. And SCOTUS has given them a blank check.
* Even then, unless booked by actual law enforcement, US citizens cannot be barred entry....assuming a functioning system. Non US citizens don't get the same.
