Spain and Portugal: 40 years in the EU!

On 1 January 1986, Spain and Portugal joined the European Union.

A leap into a new modern era – from limitations to new freedoms and new opportunities.

Massive EU investments, access to the Single Market, boosting jobs, innovation, modern infrastructures and a stronger democracy.

Four decades later, Spain and Portugal are a crucial part of Europe’s story and it’s future.

40 years of progress. Together!

That is quite an achievement. So cherish the moment, protect EU citzens' privacy, and don't spoil it with mass surveillance!

We're watching you.

I had no idea that the EU existed back then. Always thought it would have been the European Community [EC] back then ?!?

In 2017, Spain used armed forces against its own citizens. According to Article 7th of the Treaty of the European Union, Spain should have been expelled. Instead, nothing happened ... and France and Germany continue to benefit from Spanish MEPs largely voting en bloc and in line with their policies in exchange for continued economic support – Spain currently holds over 100% debt relative to its GDP. Never mind the Maastricht agreement for accession either.

  • Armed forces is the army, not the police¹.
  • A 100% debt doesn't mean anything; it's the capability to pay what sends you to a default.
  • Spain is currently a payer to the EU except for the relief funds that all countries in the Union have received.

¹That day was handled by the Rajoy's government in almost the worst possible way.

@quimsilvestre @albertcardona but the Union law is about the army attacking the people, like in 1973 Chile.

@bufalo1973 @albertcardona Guardia Civil did not attack catalan people in 2017? Do you want to see videos?

“Se garantiza el secreto de las comunicaciones y, en especial, de las postales, telegráficas y telefónicas, salvo resolución judicial.” Artículo 18 de la Constitución española de 1978.

Lets hope that we can continue feeling that our Constitution is aligned with the EU, do not taint it with mass surveillance.
