my fucking phone carrier has decided to treat my new personal identity number (PIN) as a legally separate person and are refusing to update it.
they're either saying that they want to keep me on file as a non-existing male person, or they're saying that they want to cancel my phone plans, which would be a breach of contract, i already double-checked
so after two weeks of trying to make them do this, i am trying one last thing: sending them a "right to rectification" request as per article 16 of the GDPR. they are legally required to update the PIN they have on file for me
i can't believe it looks like THIS of all things is what i have to take someone to court over. wtf
i hope they realise how much they are fucking this up for themselves

they fucking never expect the weird tranny to be some old bureaucrat who drops three pretty heavy laws on them. none of these people ever do
and i can't express how much i hate that, because it is fucking exhausting

if they don't back down and it ends up in court, they would have to argue that when a trans person changes their legal gender, they become a new person legally.
there's an absolute zero chance that a swedish court will accept that. it's just not going to happen
but let's say that it does. that's an earth shattering precedent!! i would be a separate person from my previous self, legally speaking!!!!

oh wait, since my personal identity number contains a gender marker, refusing to update it also falls under an EU court ruling that says they must update gender markers. so it's actually four laws. GDPR article 5 and 16, swedish discrimination law, and whatever law this EU court decision was about. fun
(five laws if they attempt to cancel my plans)

wish we could tell our city of birth to remove our old name and sex marker from the birth registry entirely, but that's definitely not something they are allowed to do.

@elexia maybe it is possible to have them update their records though, because of GDPR 5.1 (c) and (d).
making a request to do so would utilise article 16
