EDIT:
“Colombian govt agreed to allow US military flights carrying deported migrants to land..”

bbc.com/news/articles/c20p36e6…

Via @Pachacutec:

BBC article is rewriting US press release. It omits that #Colombia obtained agreemt from US to ensure deported citizens transported safely, not in chains, w respect for the bodies, dignity, human rts. This was Pres Petro's core demand.

Western media is at this pt consistently framing the agreemt as a unilateral concession by #Colombia and that is false.

I'm terribly disappointed that Colombia gave in. It will only empower him to bully more countries. I also thought they had a strong hand. They have popular imports that would've increased in price, and their retaliatory tariffs would've hit farmers in red states.

@jcrossonhill Yes, after seeing their initial response, I felt confident that they had a strong hand. No idea what happened.

I gave up on the BBC after Brexit, it's as political as you would expect a State Broadcaster to be, it's claims of Neutrality are bollocks.

No 10 wants to suck up to Trump, so the BBC lies for him.

Petro is very active on social media and knows how to dunk on people. His national corporate media actively lies to diminish him but he remains popular.

So his silence on the concessions the US made I believe is intentional so that Trump can bray for domestic audiences, because Petro already got what he wanted:
1) humane treatment for the deported
2) an opportunity to expand Latin American solidarity & unity for Petro's global progressive & anti-colonial agenda

@melis Oh yeah. Colombia got what they wanted. American state media will try to frame it as a Trump’s win of course, but that’s damage control.
