The wildlife crossings in Banff National Park has significantly reduced animal-vehicle collisions. Specifically, the combination of 49 wildlife crossing structures & extensive highway fencing thatโs led to a reduction by more than 80% overall. For elk & deer, the reduction is 96%. These enhanced safety for wildlife & motorists but also facilitated over 160,000 safe crossings by animal species since monitoring began in -96. Itโs a model for similar initiatives across Canada & internationally.
