I'd doodled a quick pixel-art selfie on my iPad as a test image... which has now ballooned into a horde of emoji that I can use in Signal and beyond >😁

Here's the final display; I used #Pixaki to make the doodle and edit it later. Really fun and intuitive app (and yes, it has a symmetry feature!). Check out the video above, and see the description for our live collaboration document with lots more info! I'll be finishing my ancient tutorial on #HacksterIO soon.

Here's the initial 32x32 #PixelArt doodle in the #Pixaki interface, plus the finished image, the version with color + a drop shadow, and one of my favorite emoji (exported at 17x magnification for social media) ^_^
A doodle of Alex raising one eyebrow; much of it is cut off by the edges of the 32x32 pixel canvas.
The sketch, centered and cleaned up, then finished so there's a top to my head!
A teal-navy gradient has been applied to the hair, and a 29% opaque drop shadow to the whole thing.
The same face shape and hair, but with big ole heart eyes and a massive grin!

Pixel-art Alex with big star eyes! Her hair is gradiented from teal to navy blue, and she's got a line of drool coming out of her mouth. Classy!
Shades. Too cool for school.
Nonplussed (the face is two simple dot-eyes and a line, all sunk down near the bottom of the face).
Skull! The ultimate cool thingy! Little points of light showing, deep in those dark sockets...

Also made a few little #PixelArt versions of Archimedes and his analogue, Prince Stolas! These tie into my upcoming #Teardown2025 talk (briefly mentioned during #DayGlowShow) – avatars for mind-altering gadgets to help my brain be more brain.
