Fucking yes… finally! Thank you, Ireland, Spain, and Netherlands!

“Ireland will not participate in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, and it will not be broadcast on RTÉ, after organiser the European Broadcasting Union confirmed today that Israel will be allowed to take part … Spain’s national broadcaster RTVE and the Netherlands’ AvroTros also announced that they would boycott the contest.”

Maybe we should rename it to the Genocidevision Song Contest?

Now… any more European countries with a backbone?

that’s great, I wonder what my beloved Finland will do…

…oh. 😬

Gotta say while I am disappointed I’m not exactly surprised. YLE has had a habit in recent years of being a fucking bunch of cowards when standing up for what’s right isn’t the easiest path possible.

Sigh, seems like it’s yet another year when Eurovision just doesn’t fucking exist to me. Fuck them. It’s a fucking parody of what it used to be and not worth anyone’s time or attention.

Hope it grows. If it was the United Nations #Eurovision might end up just being Isreal the US
in reply to Aral Balkan

Don’t hold out much hope that #britain would boycott, unless the puppetmaster across the “pond” gives them permission.

#ukpol #ukgovernment are too embedded
in the trump condoned, putin instigated #genocide in #gaza
to #boycott #eurovision

Eventually, like when hell freezes over,
#starmer might get a #conscience

in reply to Aral Balkan

They'll eventually just have to call it 'Israel's Got Talent' and be able to air it over antenna.
in reply to Aral Balkan

Azerbaijan is participating no problem, of course the size is incomparable, but they have tested the ground

Thank God we're not going to (Netherlands). Not together with Israël.

a tenner says the uk have zero backbone, and will be there with bells on.
in reply to Aral Balkan

if three country did boycott, they could maybe setup a counter event. Maybe without the contest, simply big show

Look at this douche of Martin Green, with a smile moreover!

Germany, a major Eurovision backer, had signalled it would not take part if Israel was barred. Germany's culture minister Wolfram Weimer told the Bild newspaper he welcomed the decision."Israel belongs to the Eurovision Song Contest like Germany belongs to Europe," he said.

The current gov of germany is the least gov representing the people here in decades. They all are mad inkompetent and work unlawfully rather for the interest of companies, in fact preparing this country to become home for a fascist regime again.
Explains a lot. #FascistsSupportFascists

Just sayin'.😒

@errant @sijmen Yeah, hey, we’ve all armed a genocide or two in our time, after all, right?

After World War 2, Germany was supposed to de-nazify, but due to an ink stain on the plan, the "de" was interpreted as a ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code.
in reply to Aral Balkan

The Norwegian state broadcaster has decided to be in favor of genocide. Or, as they call it: "we're not political".

Could these countries hold an opposing song program? Doesn't even have to be a competition and invite Palestinian and anti genocide artists to perform?

@Azih Nice idea.👌 And when it comes to the emotion of guilt the former colonizing countries (Like UK, DE, FR) must feel some guilt about for example South-Africa and its apartheid history, and about other African countries, wouldn't they ? Or maybe not. The more I read about Israel and its history the more I think this is since long no longer about guilt, it is all just about money, money and money. And racism. Not about guilt. 🤬 Nevertheless, great job Ireland, Slovenia, Spain, Netherlands broadcasting organisations. Let South-Africa join the alternative peace-yes-guilt-no festival.

@spiezmaestro
Don't give the state credit for the actions of a (soon to be defunded) public broadcaster. That's like comparing Israel to Haaretz.
