I seem to be in need of lots of help from the Fediverse today.

Can anyone advise: I want to start a blog for a friend in a politically difficult situation to have an anonymous mouthpiece. Where is the best place to do that now? Not Substack, not WordPress? Ideas?

write.as or bearblog.dev or pika.page maybe? ghost.org for a paid-only service? Otherwise a CMS on some managed hosting, often they have a one-click install for some popular blogging engines.

@nclm I really can't thank you enough for this. I will dive in and see if I can make sense of it. I am the least Tech person in the world but I know that this app is packed with such knowledge. I thank you again for rising to the occasion and making the suggestions.

Buy your own web space from a hosting provider, installing WordPress is not that difficult.

I pay something like 30 euros a year and I have my WordPress blog, my MediaWiki wiki and my Nextcloud instance to replace Google Drive.

I have to work a couple of hours a month to keep everything up-to-date but WordPress can be configured to update by itself so it's even easier.

My hosting provider for a few euros more gives you the chance to install WordPress and some other web app with a single click.
