Mastodon 4.3 – vieles wird neu
Seit Anfang Oktober gibt es die neue Mastodon Version 4.3. Ich könnte natürlich auch Meine Mastodon Tipps und Tricks ergänzen und erweitern, finde es aber doch einen eigenen Blogpost wert, was sich aus meiner Sicht zum Positiven geändert und verbessert hat.

hear-me.social is now upgraded to Mastodon 4.3.0. I'm still kicking the tires. I hope all is working fine.

The ElasticSearch account index is still building and may need another hour to complete. The pull queue seems to be struggling to catch up after the outage. It's behind 12 minutes at this point but should clear up pretty soon.

On Mastodon v4.3 many core files have been changed. Previous procedures for modifying character limit and max poll options will no longer work.

I'm looking at the PRs for #Mastodon v4.3.0's UI design changes and I think it's a little weird how many of them have way more thumbs down than thumbs up yet were still merged... Personally though I like how most of the changes look.

Well, these aren't all extensions that I have installed, but most of them.

Rest of them are either for Mastodon, either for Bluesky, or just homepage extensions. For example, I personally use Bonjourr.

I didn't gave you all extensions names, but I did shared all privacy-focused extensions and all YouTube-related extensions.

Some of these extensions are made for increasing the volume on else websites then YouTube, and some are just vertical tabs extensions, but I don't use them because I don't need them. Why?

Well, it's because it's time to share my setup, I think 😀

I use @zenbrowser as my main and @brave as secondary. I as well have @safing 's Portmaster app installed since it is privacy-focused.

So, I use personally Linux Mint, 20.3, Cinnamon as my OS.

My default search engine is Brave.

So, this is basically all it 😀

Well, that was fun.

My #mastodon upgrade went wrong (Spoiler: **I** went wrong).

Went through the process from v4.2.12 -> v4.3.0 and everything seemed to go fine, except the feed seemed to be really out of date.

Sidekiq was full of

> ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: PG::UndefinedColumn: ERROR: column accounts.devices_url does not exist at character 1126

I'd run all the DB migrations etc. Hand adding the column got me back online but still left a bunch of other errors.

Updated vault37.xyz to v4.3.0! Thanks to the team for the smooth upgrade.
