Trump revives failed drug price plan with promised executive order

Trump revived a failed effort from his first term on an issue he's talked up since even before taking office.

Donald Trump says he’ll sign an executive order on Monday that, if implemented, could bring down the costs of some medications — reviving a failed effort from his first term on an issue he’s talked up since even before becoming president.

Under the planned order, the federal government would tie what it pays pharmaceutical companies for those drugs to the price paid by a group of other, economically advanced countries — the so-called “most favored nation” approach.

It was a rule that Trump tried to adopt during his first term, but could never get through. He signed a similar executive order in the final weeks of his presidency, but a court order later blocked the rule from going into effect under the Biden administration.

Trump loses his mind over pushback to Qatar jet deal

Summary

Trump lashed out at bipartisan critics after reports revealed he plans to accept a $400 million Boeing 747-8 jet from Qatar for use as Air Force One.

In a Truth Social post, Trump dismissed concerns as “world class losers” complaining about a transparent gift. Qatar stated the plane is under legal review between its Ministry of Defense and the Pentagon.

Critics, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Chris Murphy, and Rep. Jamie Raskin, accused Trump of corruption and violating the Constitution.

Even allies like Laura Loomer led the MAGA pushback to the jet deal.

China and US agree 90-day pause to trade war initiated by Donald Trump

Countries to lower reciprocal tariffs by 115% as US treasury secretary says ‘neither side wants a decoupling’

China and the US have agreed a 90-day pause to the deepening trade war that has threatened to upend the global economy, with reciprocal tariffs to be lowered by 115%.

The 90-day lowering of tariffs applies to the duties announced by Donald Trump on 2 April, which ultimately escalated to 125% on Chinese imports, with Beijing responding with equivalent measures.

China also imposed non-tariff measures, such as restricting the export of critical minerals that are essential to US manufacturing of hi-tech goods.

duolinguaggio superscarsoide, senza leghe ora a fanculo

Ops! 🤗
You finished #19 and dropped out of the Diamond LeagueYou finished #13 and dropped out of the Obsidian League

Bike Helmets: Stupid Hat or Essential Protection?

crosspostato da: piefed.social/post/741601

Few topics in cycling inspire as much controversy as helmets. Some people insist they’re essential, calling non-wearers reckless and invoking harsh and violent imagery: “enjoy your traumatic brain injury”. “You’ll regret it when you’re in a hospital with a feeding tube”. You hear suggestions of denying access to public healthcare. On the opposite end, helmet skeptics argue that they’re a distraction. I’ve actually heard people call them “magic hats” that “don’t offer significant protection (if any at all)”. Helmets dehumanize cyclists and send the wrong message. They’re dorky and uncool, rather than fashionable and European.

So what’s the truth about helmets?

in reply to lgsp@feddit.it

Even if you exclude injuries from automobiles, head injuries are far and away the most common serious injuries people get while cycling. This entire debate is idiotic. Wearing a helmet is such an easy thing to do and has basically zero downsides.
in reply to socsa

This argument is not sound: according to the video, if you exclude dangerous cycling activities (mountain bike, downhill...) the rate of head injuries you get biking is similar to the one you get for example when running.
So either you think that also runners should wear an helmet, or your point is not backed by data.

Always excited to see a new project like this. I would def move away from reddit and Github. Both have a track record of going after piracy projects. Reddit used to be safe but they are going full hammer rn. Github seems to be fine unless its too obvious its piracy. Discord is still safe.
in reply to nullptr

Ty for the support
Discord is still risky and so is github so we are aiming to move soon.

Btw the discord link does not work, I would also suggest using Bluesky rather than twitter.
