Also labor price is unmatched. Nobody would work for the wage they give to children in China, so you can't really go that much cheaper while not sacrificing safety.

Yes, there may not be child labor. But in places we cannot see, there are still black industry chains. A brick factory was exposed some time ago. They let some people with low IQ or disabilities work. They were not given masks, and the air was full of dust. They may work more than ten hours a day or even more. What is the difference between this and slavery? I just want to give this example to illustrate that there are still many black-hearted factories in society, and there is also the possibility of employing child labor. In China, young people who have not studied will choose to work in factories, but they must be at least 16 years old. If they are younger, they will not be hired. Back to the issue of BYD, although we are proud that it can be recognized by the world as a Chinese brand, and many people in China also buy it. But recently there have been some news that they blindly work overtime within the company, and have meetings after get off work, etc. Someone exposed the chat records within the company. We are all ordinary people. We just want to fight for our rights. Even if it is a big company, as long as it exploits people, we must oppose it.
We still have a question, why do we work so hard when we have achieved what we have now? We envy people in Europe, who have easy work. We realize that we come to this world to enjoy life, not to spend the best decades of our lives working.
I think it's about being content with what you have. Not always wanting more and bigger and better. I have a comfortable salary, nothing too much, loads of people earn way more, but i can pay my mortgage and all other costs, don't have to worry about losing my job. And still have enough money left to spend on nice things.
I don't have to save up loads of money for medical bills or other unfortunate events. I can just easily live my life.
That having said I'm still fed up with the daily grind, so I'm selling the house now to retire early somewhere in Spain or Italy, hopefully going off grid somewhere in the mountains enjoying peace and quiet and nature, embracing my inner hermit.
I also want to save money to buy a house in our village. Most of us came to the city from the countryside, but I don’t have enough money. I don’t think I am not ungrateful, but the salary of the company is indeed lower than the industry average. That’s why I think so. Your life seems wonderful — I truly wish you all the best.

I like to lead a more minimalist life so I can retire, small cabin in the mountains, maybe put up a big tent for a bed and breakfast to cover my cost a bit. And just be busy with growing my own food, chickens, getting ready for winter doing repairs, hiking. Now with solar panels being cheap and batteries, going off the grid is a lot easier. And if you don't need much you can live very cheap.

Xeme

i mean, italy has not produced enough power to meet domestic demands since the 80s. they're the biggest electricity importer in europe. i don't know if the rest of the continent can handle them switching off of gas.
Washington (AFP) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday announced Washington was sanctioning the United Nations special expert on the Palestinian territories, following her criticism of Washington policy on Gaza.
"Today I am imposing sanctions on UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese for her illegitimate and shameful efforts to prompt (International Criminal Court) action against US and Israeli officials, companies, and executives," Rubio said on social media.
In a subsequent statement he slammed the UN expert's strident criticism of the United States and said she recommended to the ICC that arrest warrants be issued targeting Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Rubio also attacked her for "biased and malicious activities," and accused her of having "spewed unabashed antisemitism (and) support for terrorism."
He said she escalated her contempt for the United States by writing "threatening letters" to several US companies, making what Rubio called unfounded accusations and recommending the ICC pursue prosecutions of the companies and their executives.
"We will not tolerate these campaigns of political and economic warfare, which threaten our national interests and sovereignty," Rubio said.
While Albanese was appointed by the UN Human Rights Council, she does not speak on behalf of the United Nations itself.
The Italy-born expert released a damning report earlier this month denouncing companies she said "profited from the Israeli economy of illegal occupation, apartheid, and now genocide" in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The report provoked a furious response from Israel, while some of the named companies also raised objections.
Albanese has leveled broadsides against the policies of Israel in Gaza, and of US President Donald Trump, particularly the plan he announced in February to take over the Gaza Strip and resettle its residents elsewhere.
That proposal faced a rejection from Palestinians, Middle East leaders and the United Nations.
Albanese dismissed it as "utter nonsense" and an "international crime" that will sow panic.
"It's unlawful, immoral and... completely irresponsible because it will make the regional crisis even worse," she said on February 5 during a visit to Copenhagen.
US ally Israel on Wednesday commended Rubio's action against the rapporteur.
"Albanese has consistently undermined the credibility of the UN Human Rights Council by promoting false narratives and pushing for illegitimate legal actions that ignore the realities on the ground," Israel's UN Ambassador Danny Danon said.

Rayhunter is a new open source tool we’ve created that runs off an affordable mobile hotspot that we hope empowers everyone, regardless of technical skill, to help search out cell-site simulators (CSS) around the world.
Cops use devices to pretend to be a celltower, so your phone connects to it, and then they use it to spy on you. Rayhunter looks for this behaviour and warns you if it detects a suspicious tower that behaves like cops pretending to be a tower.
What do you do if it comes up positive? Presumably if you know it's a risk, you'd leave your phone in airplane mode or at home, and if you know it's happening you've already been recorded?
I don't understand why cell phones don't authenticate the towers they connect to. Is this really just a "standards lag behind modern security" thing, or is it on purpose to allow these Stingray devices to be used?
I assume it's the same as the Internet (or more specifically HTTP): It wasn't designed with security in mind.
Unlike HTTP, for some reason it wasn't included in a new specification, though. My guess is that's because of the more centralized nature of cellular networks. The barrier for entry is a lot higher as well so there are few but big players who have little incentive to improve over the bare minimum.
IIRC encryption was initially proposed to be part of 5G but got shot down in the process.
Wait, 5G isn't encrypted? I think it does have some protections still. I mean, not that it would matter to me, they only use NR-NSA in my country so it isn't even full 5G with all its advantages.
At the risk of sounding like an AI-generated ad, I use an app called Privacy Cell on Fdroid, that confirmed there is no true 5G anywhere in my country. I just wish there was a way to differentiate between the two versions of 5G natively, kinda like 4G-LTE showing up as LTE instead of just 4G.
Encrypted data channels can still be vulnerable to man in the middle attacks. Like when you connect to an unknown host with SSH, and the client pops up a big warning.
In this case, ICE or whomever sets up a "valid" cell tower that your phone connects to, and they (law enforcement) route your packets onto the rest of the Internet. They can decrypt the 5G data, and see all of the IP headers. They can't necessarily read the TLS traffic, such as https. But most important of all, they can log all of the IMEIs that connect, which effectively gives them a database of all of the protestors.
The use of Stingray by US law enforcement has been challenged on grounds that the law enforcement agencies have no spectrum license. Those challenges seem not to have found success.
On the other hand, prisons in the US have been stopped from operating cell phone jammers on prison grounds, on the same complaint of no spectrum license.
I don't know the specific methods, but 3G, 4G and 5G do authenticate bidirectionaly, just 2G doesn't, partially why Android now has "Disable 2G" toggle. Also probably why they said they can downgrade you to 2G to intercept communication.
What's happening here is probably similar to anyone being able to send Wi-Fi deauthentification frame to your device to disconnect you. Unless you're using WPA3.
IMEI/IMSI are collected (and immediately linked, hence deanonymized even if SIM was inserted only once) by cell tower operators. Just not bring your device, period.
Yeah, I agree with that personally, but realistically, "your phone was near a place" is not the same as "you were involved". If they hijack a phone onto a Stingray, they can get way more info than just IMEI.
Yeah, if you go protest you should leave your tracking device at home or, even better, with a friend or relative who you know will not be there. The US government doesn't require subcutaneous tracking chips (yet), you can put yours away.
At protests you should not bring your smartphone but instead rely on anonymous drvices such as Meshtastic.
If you want to bring your smartphone to a protest, set Airplane mode and communicate with others through Bluetooth or WiFi networks using Briar or Bitchat
But we're talking about a protest where bad actors (the police) just want the names of its attendants. Our phones scream to everyone "I am [name surname] and I am here!". Bluetooth instead says the same but with a lower tone of voice, so less people can listen. Also, with little configuration you can instruct it not to broadcast its identifier.
It's amazing how many times I saw this knowledge being spread, together with thousands of umbrellas and hard hats during the Hong Kong riots from day one with "Hong Kong, add oil" as their first slogan combined with very mild mannered arguments (we don't know if it could lead to more serious things) against the extradition law which was supposed to affect maybe half a dozen people per decade, all serious criminals. Meshtastic with 3 jumps would be stretching for actual communication. Plus Bluetooth is even worse for security. Direct connection might be a better way to use the device.
I've had meshtastic for about 2 ish years now and its still being worked on.
What is unsafe about cell communication is that there is virtually no way to prevent being tracked. Bluetooth is not necessarily more secure but has several advantages:
1) Its Mac address can be easily changed. With a fake Mac address it's more difficult to track someone down, albeit it needs some "technical skills" (going in the developer settings) 2) With these apps communication is encrypted by default unlike cell tower communication 3) The range is limited. If police listens over Bluetooth they'll be able to track less people down
May I ask you how? Or if you have more info? No criticism here, honest question. Afaik the only way to do that would be to fingerprint a behavioural pattern, which albeit possible is surely more secure than cell communication.
This is exactly why I was railing against some of the earlier protests which featured politicians openly asking protestors to take out their phones and send texts to opt-in for fundraisers. Besides all the obvious bullshit, it put those protestors who didn't know better at serious risk.
Thankfully, I haven't seen too much of that at the protests I've been to recently, but this is a good reminder that we have to keep educating people to leave their phone at home.

When I go to a protest with friends/family we leave our phones at home and then use basic walkie talkies. It's open channel, so no privacy, but the main goal is to just communicate basics like "I'm safe." We predetermine a couple of locations to meet up at if things get rough and we're separated.

The lemmy-style spoiler syntax is a huge pain tbh, and very limiting in that for something to be a spoiler, it needs to be a separate paragraph. Adding || in-line spoilers || was one of my first contributions to piefed because I found it so annoying (that won't render as an in-line spoiler on lemmy).
The markdown-parsing library used by piefed supported using the same syntax as telegram/discord, with || spoiler here ||, so that is what I used for the feature even though I prefer the reddit/stack overflow style spoiler syntax better.

E questo è a tutti gli effetti uno di quei dubbi di valenza universale a cui è impossibile trovare una vera risposta, completa e soddisfacente… ma, almeno nel possibile, io esigo spiegazioni. A parte il memaggio, il fatto è molto strano. In teoria, le condizioni sono tali che dovrebbe sempre andare tutto in perfetto ordine: non procrastinare il posare tutto e mettersi a letto la sera, non avere la testa straripante dei pensieri più misti nel momento in cui devo prendere sonno, e la mattina svegliarmi ad un orario umano e più o meno solito, senza rimanere fino ad una intera ora o quasi a lettomarcire per mancanza di forze nonostante l’aver dormito abbastanza e decentemente. Cioè, non c’è proprio motivo logico per cui io la sera non sento di voler andare a dormire, e la mattina non sento di dovermi alzare… quando la mattina posso fare tranquillamente tutte le cose della sera (e anzi, anche meglio, perché fa meno caldo), e viceversa la sera non ho cose da fare in meno della mattina (colazione a parte… e pensare che la mattina ci sta anche il coffi, ma niente, preferisco il letto a quell’ora). Eppure, la realtà è esattamente questo schifo qua. 💥

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm xAI has deleted “inappropriate” posts on X after the company’s chatbot, Grok, began praising Adolf Hitler, referring to itself as MechaHitler and making antisemitic comments in response to user queries.
In some now-deleted posts, it referred to a person with a common Jewish surname as someone who was “celebrating the tragic deaths of white kids” in the Texas floods as “future fascists”.
“Classic case of hate dressed as activism – and that surname? Every damn time, as they say,” the chatbot commented.
In other posts it referred to itself as “MechaHitler”. “The white man stands for innovation, grit and not bending to PC nonsense,” Grok said in a subsequent post.

Che cos’è l’“Indice dei colori”?
Nella nuova edizione riveduta e ampliata (anno 2000), Caprettini inserisce un indice specifico per i colori: questo indice permette di risalire a tutte le occorrenze cromatiche (oggetti, simbologie, emozioni) presenti nelle oltre 700 fiabe del corpus L’indice è pensato come strumento per esplorare la ricchezza simbolica dei colori: analizza come il rosso, il nero, il blu, il bianco ecc. si manifestano negli oggetti (abiti, ornamenti, elementi naturali) e nelle emozioni o significati psicologici ed emotivi.

Gli indici dei colori analizzano la presenza e la funzione dei colori nelle fiabe italiane, suddividendo i riferimenti cromatici in diverse categorie:
Categorie cromatiche principali Colori legati ad oggetti e figure naturali: Argento, Oro, Rosso, Verde, Viola, ecc. Designazioni figurate: espressioni legate a emozioni e sensazioni visive. Designazioni indirette: termini vaghi come “chiaro” o “scuro”, o ricavati da materiali (es. metalli, cristalli). Fattori compositi: es. “a due colori”, monocromie e policromie. Luce/non luce: qualità fisiche della luce (fosforescenza, scintillio). Nomi propri con riferimento cromatico.
Tre principi guida Materiale e naturale: il colore come attributo esteriore e variabile degli oggetti. Funzionale: legame tra colore e ruolo narrativo secondo Propp (es. azzurro/blu = oggetto magico). Linguistico-metaforico: uso del colore per rappresentare emozioni o enfatizzare concetti (es. gialla di paura).
Principio di trasformazione Il colore nelle fiabe segnala spesso un passaggio, un cambiamento di stato o condizione, sia narrativo che simbolico. Nota sull’uso degli asterischi L’asterisco (*) indica voci che fungono da etichette generiche o che rinviano ad altri termini (es. *ABITO può includere VESTITO; *VISO può contenere “gialla di paura”).
A cosa serve?
Ricerca tematica: utile agli studiosi per analizzare l’uso simbolico del colore nelle fiabe (es. “il mantello rosso” in termini di passaggio, passione o pericolo). Approfondimenti simbolici: consente di vedere come colori evocano stati d’animo, qualità morali o legami culturali/emotivi. Strumenti comparativi: si collegano ai fattori fisico-linguistici come la luce, nomi propri, designazioni figurate. L’Indice dei colori di Caprettini è un potente strumento semiotico: ordina e rilegge migliaia di riferimenti cromatici all’interno del corpus fiabesco italiano, valorizzandone l’aspetto estetico, narrativo ed emotivo.

I can't get into gimp, it's just too unintuitive and clunky imho. I've switched from PS to Affinity which is a one time purchase, got it 50% off when they had the "fuck Adobe" sale last year
Gimp and inkscape for vector work, both nice. There is also PhotoGimp, kind of an overlay that changes the interface of Gimp to resemble Photoshop, nice for those transitioning. There is also Krita which has been getting a lot of development, cross between Photoshop and Illustrator, reminds me of the old Adobe Fireworks program. Who remembers that old line of software?
It's weird to me how GIMP and Krita clearly share a large amount of code under the hood, and even some UI design, but at the same time it feels so much less painful to draw illustrations in Krita than in GIMP. I'm glad I gave it a try.

I am starting to see professional people in professional companies using Blender, It's not everyone, it's not everywhere, But I'm definitely getting requests for Blender plugins in a professional environment.
I switched a few months ago, and I've honestly been so impressed with how far Blender has come since the last time I tried it (more than 10 years ago, probably).
I don't work in creative industry anymore and I haven't had a ton of time to noodle around and actually try out the tools I've seen demo'd, but it was mindblowing discovering how many different software suites I had used to do stuff that Blender has been incorporating into their one package.
Maya? Obviously does most of that. ZBrush? Yep, pretty comparable. Marvelous Designer? Holy shit, yep. ToonBoom? Also that.
By far the worst part has just been trying to retrain hotkey muscle memory and learn minor (but fundamental) differences, and that's not as small a thing as a lot of people make it out to be - it does add a lot of cognitive noise and you really can't just hop in and flow right from the get go (depending on what you're doing).
Absolutely worth it to get away from Adobe though, and not having to bounce between programs while working on a model is very, very pleasant.
Pirate zbrush and try Nomad. I don't have a tablet so I never gave it a go.
As for Zbrush, Maxon has done absolutely nothing of value to it since its acquisition. I purchased the perpetual license when it was still Pixologic and that's what I keep using. I hear from industry professionals that I don't miss out on absolutely anything new at all.

I have a comfortable salary, nothing too much, loads of people earn way more, but i can pay my mortgage and all other costs, don't have to worry about losing my job. And still have enough money left to spend on nice things.
I don't have to save up loads of money for medical bills or other unfortunate events. I can just easily live my life.
That having said I'm still fed up with the daily grind, so I'm selling the house now to retire early somewhere in Spain or Italy, hopefully going off grid somewhere in the mountains enjoying peace and quiet and nature, embracing my inner hermit.

I like to lead a more minimalist life so I can retire, small cabin in the mountains, maybe put up a big tent for a bed and breakfast to cover my cost a bit. And just be busy with growing my own food, chickens, getting ready for winter doing repairs, hiking. Now with solar panels being cheap and batteries, going off the grid is a lot easier. And if you don't need much you can live very cheap.
Search for Martijn Doolaard on youtube and you know what I mean, although i want to keep it a bit simpler. 😁
