The Great British Brexit Robbery: How our Democracy was hijacked, by Carole Cadwalladr

If you are interested in this text, you might save not only the link, but the PDF as well - apparently there are ongoing efforts to de-publish it completely. (What again was the word we were using for this in USSR times?)And if you are interested on many more details how "social media" and most smartphone software employs a neverending stream of "brain hacks" to capture our attention by addictive design, amplifying the campaigns of Cambridge Analytica and people behind it like Bannon or Mercer, this is a book you should look into:
"Free Your Mind from Smartphone and Social Media Stress", by Imran Rashid and Søten Kenner, Johm Wiley & Sons, ISBN (print) 978-3-527-51002-3, (epub) 978-3-527-82886-9.
- title sounds like a self-help book but I think it is immensely political.
What’s Really in the White House Law Firm Agreements?
these “agreements” are – depending on the agreements – three or four bullet pointed paragraphs of text...
putting all the pieces together it seems clear to me that these blocks of text are in fact the sum total of the agreement. They appear to be identical to what Donald Trump posted on Truth Social.
What’s Really in the White House Law Firm Agreements?
Last week I asked some questions about the law firm “agreements” with Donald Trump that seem very unclear from the available news coverage. Namely…Josh Marshall (TPM - Talking Points Memo)

ICE deports Venezuelan teen despite reportedly knowing he was not a target
Merwil Gutiérrez sent from New York to El Salvador prison although family says he has no criminal history or gang ties
A 19-year-old Venezuelan in New York City reportedly was apprehended by Trump administration immigration authorities and deported to El Salvador despite agents’ realizing he was not whom they meant to arrest in a targeted operation.
Merwil Gutiérrez, whose family opened an asylum case after arriving in the US, was deported from the Bronx to the notorious Cecot prison in El Salvador despite his relatives’ insistence that he has no gang ties or criminal history, according to Documented, a newsroom dedicated to telling the stories of immigrants in New York City. The Gutiérrez family says it has been left without information or answers.
The teen was detained alongside 237 other Venezuelans on 24 February by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice). His father, Wilmer Gutiérrez, told Documented: “I feel like my son was kidnapped.”

Huawei shows off data center supercomputer that is better “on all metrics”
With, I think, a massive grain of salt since this info is unverified and direct from the manufacturer...
Huawei’s official presentation claims their Cloudmatrix 385 supercomputer delivers 300 PFLOPS of computing power, 269 TB/s of network bandwidth, and 1,229 TB/s of total memory bandwidth. It also achieves 55 percent model fitting utilization (MFU) during training workloads and offers 2.8 Tbps of inter-card bandwidth, heavily emphasizing its strength in networking.

DOGE is combing through government data to find people for Trump’s deportation plans
Department of Government Efficiency staffers have been given access to government databases containing private information about where people work or live - all with the intention of identifying undocumented immigrants and assisting in President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda.
Those databases - at agencies such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Social Security Administration and IRS - contain private information that immigrants of all statuses have submitted about themselves, believing the information would not be used against them.
At HUD, officials are working on a rule that would ban mixed-status households – or those with people who have different immigration or citizenship statuses – from obtaining public housing, unnamed staffers
DOGE, which is being spearheaded by Elon Musk, is combing through HUD data to identify undocumented immigrants and then share that data with the Department of Homeland Security to have people removed from accessing public benefits, even if they live with someone who has legal status.

Federal judge stops Trump administration from deporting a half-million Cubans, others
A federal judge stopped the Trump administration on Monday from rescinding deportation protections and work permits for more than a half-million Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans who were granted entrance into the United States under a humanitarian parole program during the Biden presidency.
U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani ruled, after a hearing last week, that the paroled migrants can stay in the United States as they pursue immigration benefits. In effect, her ruling will prevent the Department of Homeland Security’s secretary, Kristi Noem, from revoking their parole status as part of an administration plan to end the humanitarian program on April 24.
“While [Trump administration officials] are correct that the Secretary’s discretion in this area is broad, their conclusion that the Secretary’s actions are wholly shielded from judicial review is incorrect,” Talwani wrote in in a 41-page order filed in Boston federal court.
‘An existential threat to democracy’: the US judge facing a challenge to her election victory
In November, Riggs won an election for the state supreme court by a razor-thin 734 votes. But on Friday, the North Carolina supreme court ordered the state board of elections to give certain overseas voters 30 days to prove their eligibility in order to have the votes they cast more than five months ago count.
Riggs has already asked a federal court to intervene and halt the ruling, which could lead to the election results being overturned. She told the Guardian she sees her court challenge as about more than just her seat.
“I worry that this is honing a playbook to be used in the future, that people in power hold on to power by selectively challenging election outcomes that they don’t like,” she said.

Ken Paxton is running for the US Senate. Republican jockeying begins for his position as Texas Attorney General
While it is a notch below being a governor or U.S. Senator, the attorney general’s office in Texas has long been a platform for generating publicity and getting into the pipeline for higher office. Every Texas attorney general since 1972 has run for either the U.S. Senate or governor, though not all have won.
Yet, Texas hasn’t seen many open primary battles of attorney general over the last 25 years. Paxton had to go to a runoff election with former Texas Rep. Dan Branch in 2014 to win his first term in office. Before that, you have to go back to 2002, when now Gov. Greg Abbott won his primary unopposed to begin a 12-year run as Texas attorney general. Those are the only two open-seat battles for attorney general since George W. Bush was governor.
Who will replace Ken Paxton as Texas Attorney General?

(ARD)

Ricardo.ch is an absolute hellhole in Switzerland, they charge ridiculous fees and don’t offer any sort of protection so they basically make massive profit margins for nothing.
In this case it’s probably more ethical to use literal facebook marketplace.
There is an alternative that doesn’t charge fees, Annibis, but it was bought up by Ricardo and turned to shit. They really are the devil.

Signal war plans messages disappear from CIA director's phone
Signal messages discussing sensitive U.S. military plans were not on CIA director John Ratcliffe's phone when the CIA reviewed them, the CIA's Chief Data Officer has said.
In a court document submitted Monday as part of a lawsuit between nonpartisan watchdog group American Oversight and White House officials, Hurley V. Blankenship said that when the CIA reviewed a sensitive Signal group chat on March 31, days after news broke that a journalist had been erroneously added to it, "substantive messages" were not present and instead the chat showed only its group name and administrative settings.
…
Officials on the chat group faced bipartisan criticism including the lawsuit, which alleged breaches of the Federal Records Act and the Administrative Procedure Act by conducting government business on a platform which erases communications.
