Before the onslaught of California wildfires forced me out of the mountains, I had a blissful 48 hours camping at Brightman Flat in the Sierras. My site was right next to the Stanislaus River, and it was pure bliss. (More about the hike soon...)

I landed here on Labor Day, and it was practically empty. A stark contrast to the circus and hordes of people at nearby Pinecrest Lake. Just drive a few miles away from the crowds, and you'll find peace...

yeah, people not from the area always focus on the most popular places. There were certainly people on the trail but not crowded at all. And more shade closer to the shore so much more my kind of vibes. I guess Tahoe is nice if you're into beaches you can lay around at. I just want trees and a body of water to make the air moist. I'd often see this dynamic living up in the mountains. People would crowd into popular campsites like Table Mountain, but Guffy would always be sparse.
