I agree with most of it but think the colonial/cis/white guy critique of the older sci-fi is overdone (broadly, not in this article).
When it's descriptive it's accurate - it was almost all stuff written by straight white guys for straight white guys.
When it's normative - why did they only write for straight white guys? That's nonsense to me. It's like asking "why didn't they become someone else who is an anachronism and write for my modern sensibilities"?
