Maybe someone who knows a bit more about #ComputerHardware can tell me this, because I've been wondering lately...

Why has no one made a #GPU with upgradable #RAM slots? Like, that seems to be the number one issue with older GPUs, nothing else. I understand why Nvidia doesn't do it, because they are purposefully holding back #VRAM to force obsolescence, but why has no one else tried this?

It seems to me like you could just put a DDR5 SODIMM slot, or two on a higher end card, and let people upgrade later...

10 Haunting Sculptures by Philip Jackson

From cloaked figures with hidden faces to elongated women draped in textured gowns, the sculptures of Philip Henry Christopher Jackson transform landscapes into theatrical stages. Seen in ruins, gardens, and historic courtyards, his creations carry masks of gold and robes of shadow, leaving viewers caught between awe and unease.

This collection brings together some of his most striking works, including installations in the UK’s historic sites and lush outdoor settings.

Three faceless figures in heavy cloaks stand together, one hand cast in shining gold. Placed against ancient stone ruins, the work evokes mystery and ritual.

A tall figure sits in quiet thought, her massive curved headdress edged in gold. The textured surface of her gown contrasts with the smooth mask, blending elegance with abstraction.

Three towering figures with sharp, angular headdresses rise from the grass, their hands and masks gleaming gold. The open field setting heightens their monumental presence.

A solitary figure with folded arms and a golden mask leans against the backdrop of a stone church wall. The elongated robe roots the sculpture to the ground, giving it a commanding stance.

A seated figure with a wide circular headdress gazes outward from a black bench. The golden mask reflects sunlight, adding drama to the garden landscape.

Several cloaked figures in dark robes and gold masks gather outside a cathedral, paired with a seated counterpart nearby. Together, they evoke a scene of silent ritual.

This silver-toned figure stands tall in a gown detailed with a line of golden buttons. The sculpture combines grace with strength through its rigid stance and geometric headdress.

A figure sits among trees, her angular headdress casting shadow over her face. The surface texture of her gown adds depth, blending sculpture with the woodland environment.

Two seated figures in theatrical robes share a bench, their golden masks peering out from beneath angular headdresses. The backdrop of historic stone walls amplifies their dramatic presence.

The Glass Slipper — A silver figure in a flowing dress steps forward with one leg extended, placed at the edge of a pond beneath an arched trellis. The wide headdress frames the figure dramatically against the greenery.

Just released Drum Machine v1.5.0 and I'm excited.

You can finally export your beats as audio files! WAV, FLAC, OGG, MP3. Plus, you can add metadata like artist name, song title, and cover art. You can also set how many times your pattern repeats. So if you make a short 4-bar loop, you can export it as a 3 minute track!

I would love to hear what you create with it, so please tag me if you share your beats anywhere ❤

Today’s cassette tape is Lovin’ Every Minute of It (1985) by Loverboy.

This one is mostly remembered for the hit single This Could Be the Night, which climbed all the way to #10 on Billboard. But the whole album is packed with high-energy hard rock that occasionally drifts into full-on hair metal territory.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Loverboy. They were never the coolest band, but they had a playful streak that made them fun. Plus, they’re a hometown act—straight out of Vancouver, Canada.

This particular cassette shows its age. The case is scuffed, the plastic scratched, and the tape itself has a couple of quick dropouts. Still, it’s a blast to throw on while out walking, imperfections and all.

so, i decided that GETTING COVID would be a sever effect and said yes.)

Je höher also die CPU-Last, desto geringer der Datendurchsatz.

Auf dem Router selber, iperf3 mit v6:

[root@homerouter] > /system/resource/monitor
          cpu-used: 67%
  cpu-used-per-cpu: 46%
                    88%
       free-memory: 442216KiB
-- [Q quit|D dump|C-z pause]

Und mit v4:
[root@homerouter] > /system/resource/monitor
          cpu-used: 65%
  cpu-used-per-cpu: 57%
                    74%
       free-memory: 442064KiB
-- [Q quit|D dump|C-z pause]

Something feels off in iOS where these days if I want to enable some lost basic app functionality, it requires a handful of searches and trying things out to get to a hidden settings screen blocking things instead of how it all used to be in the earlier days of iOS, where stuff made sense.

it is tough to keep adding features without adding complexity. Perhaps best to stop adding features, or for every new feature, remove an old unused one (based on metrics)

Let me give you some sense of how staggeringly large and complex the capital markets have become.

If we go back ten years ago, there were about 1700 mutual funds with about $700 billion in assets.

Today, we have about 7,000 mutual funds with $3 trillion worth of assets.

There are so many funds and so many stocks and so many bonds and so many warrants and so many options,
it's such a dizzying universe of choice for people that, inevitably,
they're attracted to any sort of professional management of people who can help them to hack their way through this thicket of different offerings.

And I think that in the last decade of the 20th century we have so many thousands of companies being publicly traded and so many hundreds of new companies going public all the time,
that it has just outstripped the ability of the average individual to keep up with all of the possible investment opportunities.

I also think that there's enough of a lingering suspicion that market insiders have some kind of unconquerable edge over the little people
that mutual funds give people the sense,
perhaps the illusion
that they're investing with the big boys and that they're really not at a disadvantage in entering the stock market.

A quotation from George Orwell
We have become too civilised to grasp the obvious. For the truth is very simple. To survive you often have to fight, and to fight you have to dirty yourself. War is evil, and it is often the lesser evil. Those who take the sword perish by the sword, and those who don’t take the sword perish by smelly diseases.
