I still like VSCode and would rather stick with it. My assumption was that they'd have to charge for copilot. Seems very enshittified if they don't let users opt out.
I fear they may regret what they are asking for. These are not automatically created issues and PRs, they are requested by some human community member. If GitHub take that feature away, those community members will simply use AI locally to generate the issue/PR and then publish it under their own identity. And then everyone gets to guess how much of the content is from a human vs an LLM. That seems like a worse outcome.
If you are not embracing AI then I would love to know why. We are living in a era that we get to do the coolest of things snd remove the burden of the boring stuff.
