Nach dem Tod meines besten Freundes Alex Schestag waren seine beiden Server und damit seine Blogs sehr schnell aus dem Netz verschwunden. Ich hatte noch versucht, über das Internet-Archiv Artikel von ihm zu finden, aber alle sind da offenbar nicht gespeichert.
Es geht mir um einen bestimmten, vermutlich mit dem Titel „Schwarz“, in dem er eine Autofahrt mit seinen Eltern beschrieb, die die farbenprächtige Umgebung – es war wohl Herbst gewesen – lobten, während er selbst in schweren Depressionen alles nur in „schwarz“ sah. Diesen Artikel hatte ich nicht gefunden.

on #Linux (at least with xorg/cinnamon/fedora/whatever), SDL3 is picking up these phantom mouse up/down events that are mislabled as being from mouse 0, and this behavior differs from SDL3's mouse emulation (which I have off anyway).
something installed touchegg but I killed it with fire but that doesn't seem to have been the cause.
libinput by way of the debugging info provided by xinput seems to not be doing this, so that would leave xorg right? is there anything else I should check?
@pupxel doubtful. the phantom mouse events have approximately the same coordinates as the touch events and occur with a consistent ordering relative to the touch events. behaviorally this is clearly a compatibility bodge, but I haven't had any luck figuring out what is doing it or how to make it stop
also, it's worth noting for the sake of trouble shooting and not for the sake of saying that windows does not have this problem: windows does not have this problem. SDL3 on windows correctly picks up the touch events w/o the weird phantom mouse events.
the solution I'm considering is making linux players have to select whether or not they want tablet input or mouse input events. the navigation buttons would have to respond to everything or you couldn't open the settings page, so that stands to be confusing :/
This is a situation where I would begin by just filing on SDL3 because if the bug is somewhere else, they would be able to tell you where with more accuracy than you could work it out yourself.
sometimes in a situation like this i volunteer "If the bug is in some other program I would be happy to file it there, but I need enough information to explain to them the problem."
it sounds like the root cause is a fundamental problem in X11, and the work around is because generally people who use SDL are interested in using it to do things github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/pull…

Core X11 events are used for absolute motion while the mouse is grabbed, as XInput doesn't receive motion events from the master pointer, and the position from the slave devices lags ...
a triaging project where you file bug for piece of linux and they help you repro the issue, find where it come from and file a bug report against the correct project would be nice
This should pop up a window with a white background and a black-bordered rectangle inside.
When you “do stuff” in the window, it will report the input events from the core X protocol into the terminal (mouse motion, button presses etc). (This is why you need to launch it from a terminal.)
Note that the black-bordered region inside the window is set to behave differently, so you'll probably want to do your click tests elsewhere in the window.
I see two pairs of ButtonPress events each followed by its ButtonRelease events, with some MotionNotify events interspersed (mouse button down, mouse wiggle, mouse button up). Nothing unusual.
also note that AFAIK this only reports core input events, so if SDL is using some other layer (e.g. tthe XI2 extension) you won't see the same behavior (I don't know if there is a comparable XI2 debuging tool)

I'm so happy that the US is losing to BRICS and whatnot... That being said ive consumed some politics today and now that has offset my mood and Frame of mind ;(. But it was kinda worth it... I really enjoyed Gamers Nexus' coverage of their 3 and a half hour documentary on china gpu smuggling... Then I watched know way no how on YouTube and he did a very good video... Sometimes I dont know what to think but I was very happy to realize that the US is losing after their history of wasting money on terrorizing the whole world... So thats nice. I still don't know exactly for sure how I should live my life... I'm too afraid and inhibited still... Ill just say I won't be helping the US unless there are some heavy strings attached... Maybe I should study and exercise more... Keep drinking tea.

A bug-sized first person soulslike that was bursting with charm. It's a bit short and janky, but it's also 6 bucks, and has really silly co op. A great game to grab and enjoy for an evening before moving on.

I really enjoyed this, but i feel like other puzzle games I played this year (seance of blake manor, blue prince, golden idol) outpaced it in my mind. Still, a fun mystery solve, and i'm glad they removed the AI art form the prototype.

A massive hit in china, it's part ace attorney, part platformer, part puzzle game, part visual novel, all awesome furry designs. This game looks AWESOME but got overlooked in America, and GOD i want it.
