Yes, computer memory (#DRAM and #SSD) has become much more expensive. But there are much nastier reasons for this than one would think.
OpenAI already concluded extremely extensive partnership deals with the world's two largest manufacturers, Samsung and SK Hynix, in October. These deals alone account for around 40% of global DRAM production. Altman invested two years into preparing this haul.
SK Hynix now has no free capacity left for 2026.
However, OpenAI doesn't really need that much memory for itself: the main goal is to ensure that the competition gets much less of it, by separately and secretly luring manufacturers with incredible purchase quantities, as if they were each (!) Altman's only "one and only love".
And to mooreslawisdead.com's question, in the above article, end of November: “What other deals don't we know about?” the world's third-largest manufacturer micron, too, gave an answer just under a week later: We are switching and will only sell to "AI" from now on, no longer to consumers
So if you can only get memory upgrades and SSDs at exorbitant prices, you can thank the "#AI" companies whose bullshit generators get used by many people around you, enthusiastically.

Is there a simple self-hosted SSH Terminal Server I can use? I just need something super simple where you open a web page, and then can connect to any host via SSH from that web site. The server side is in charge of setting up the SSH connection.
I've found a few very complex options that aren't what I want.
- ShellHub requires installing a client on every host
- Termix might do it but it has a lot of extra stuff I don't need and still requires a client, but it can run on the same host?
