I think this is a thoughtful take but perhaps omits the biggest legacy that Facebook alums take away — the culture. The mindset of widespread experimentation on people at scale doesn’t leave room for even the best-intentioned (and usually less-powerful) members of the team to question when a company has crossed ethical boundaries. OpenAI has *already* walked back its attempts to be more responsible in order to maintain engagement, at the direct expense of users’ health, and even their lives.

Our predicament is built on the #MAGA faithful ensuring that any GOP congressman that goes against him on anything, won't win reelection. So he's allowed to be worse than previous Republicans.
And yet if his supporters really thought about the #Epstein situation, they'd realize that he has been lying about it being a Dem hoax and actually he's protecting Bill Clinton and lots of elites, who they hate. Obviously to protect himself, which should make them wonder how else he is bullshitting them.
