So, uh, looks like I'm gonna try my hand at restoring a CRT TV. The Sony PVM-9044Q is in good shape, so it didn't really require any work. However, found a JVC TM-150CG and decided to take a stab at getting it up and running. I expect that there will be more than a bit of work needed and that the 3D printer is gonna be doing some work. I don't know the condition of the tube, but shouldn't be a huge issue to track down one. Also tracked down a IF-C01COMG RGB card for the TV which will work out nicely.

The clumping reeds of Slartibartfast.
I like the way this photo turned out. The symmetry is quite pleasing. I composed the shot so the whatchamacallits (flowers, fronds, buds….what are those things?) aligned over the darker trees in the background. And that turned out nicely. I will score myself a solid 7/10.
It would have been better if there was just a smaller clump in the centre of the photo surrounded by the water.
And perhaps a hint of mist?
I must speak to Slartibartfast about this1, or perhaps God, or a physicist, or the Matrix AI……Im not sure which jurisdiction matters of aesthetic reed distribution falls under.
- Slartibartfast: a character in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. “He was a traveller and former designer of planets who specialised in fjords. An often tired and confused man, he was most unhappy with his work, but continued it anyway in the hopes that it would someday lead to happiness”. ↩︎

Human beings have created societies intended to deliberately make their inhabitants dependent on institutions, organisations, companies and simply other people. They have purposely hobbled anyone's ability to live for, and by, themselves outside these same things.
Diogenes called such behaviour dehumanising.
And he was right: it is.

Within the ashes of war lie the souls that perished for ideals of grander and unrealistic dreams, for if the deaths of millions was to bring a peace, for what reason shall evil find to be, for moments of rest before the rage, each new battle comes with every rising sun, by the stars at night our hearts beat still, hoping to be when morning sun comes to see;

#ForestWalkMeditation Wednesday, September 10, 17 & 24, 11:00 a.m.—Noon
Meet at 10:45 a.m. at the parking lot across from the Range Pond State Park gate. The program will start at 11:00 a.m. Yes, we know it’s a funny name, but here generations of Mainers have called it “Going up to Camp”. In Japan they say "#ShinrinYoku," which literally means "#ForestBath". Make time for yourself, life is hectic. Come over to slow down and connect with Range Pond’s forest and wildlife. Enjoy an hour of quiet. Do’s: Prepare to be outside, that means black fly & tick precautions. Bring a folding chair if you want to sit. Don’ts: Leave those bars of soap at home and please leave your phone in your car. Ranger Lori, a retired educator and lifelong outdoor enthusiast will facilitate this program.
#AdoptATree
Saturdays, September 13 & 27, 3:00—4:00 PM Check in at 2:45 at the park entrance booth.
In this activity, families will “adopt” a tree at the park, deepening their awareness of individual trees over time and encouraging a greater understanding and appreciation of their local environment. On your next trip to the Park, visit your tree and write down how the tree looks, feels, and smells to describe how your tree is changing. Ranger Lori, a retired educator and lifelong outdoor enthusiast will facilitate this one hour program. Printed Adoption Certificates and Tree Journal pages will be provided.
Wildlife that Lives Here

Join Ranger Chris for a one-hour chat and share your wildlife sightings at the park.
Book Collections at the Park
Do you have books that you love that you want to share with others? Help us stock up for next summer’s #BookSwaps. Please bring lightly used books for all ages and bring to the Park’s entrance booth 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
