I have COVID, now what?

You can still stop the spread of the virus

Reduce the likelihood of infecting others in your household by isolating yourself as soon as possible, improving air circulation, and encouraging everyone to wear masks. People who test positive for COVID are contagious for at least 10 days . After this period, another COVID test is recommended.

Avoid leaving home as much as possible. If you have an emergency or something that you cannot postpone, wear an N95/RN95/FPP2 mask.
(A PCR test may be required to obtain disability benefits or due to long-term persistent COVID )

Dehydration is linked to developing long COVID so stay hydrated!

Rest
The risk of developing long COVID is higher in people who do not get adequate rest . Avoid exercise or physical activity during infection and in the weeks afterward. Rest and pacing yourself are essential to treating chronic fatigue syndrome, a common symptom of long COVID

Today in Labor History December 14, 1951: Bagel Bakers Local 338, of the Bakery and Confectionery Workers International Union, went on strike in New York. They shut down 32 of the city’s 34 bagel bakeries. The remaining 2 bakeries could not keep up with the city’s 1.2 million per week demand for bagels. Lox sales dropped 30-50%. The strike lasted until February.

The Bagel Bakers Local 338 was established in the early 20th century. Originally, it was comprised of an entirely Jewish workforce and conducted its meetings in Yiddish. The union controlled the bagel market for decades, until the 1960s, with the introduction of the automated Thompson Bagel Machine, which could produce 300 dozen bagels in the time that two men working together could roll 125 dozen. In the early 1970s, the union merged into a broader baker's union.

While Trump and Kushner both have envisioned wealthy resort concepts,
most of the international community wishes to see Gaza rebuilt as a livable home for its 2.1 million Palestinian residents.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to control half of the Gaza Strip,
and has said it will forbid reconstruction on the half overseen by Hamas until the group disarms.

Two former Doge officials were dispatched to the region as planning for postwar Gaza ramped up this fall.

One was Josh Gruenbaum,
an appointee to the General Services Administration now serving as a senior adviser to the Gaza taskforce.

The other was Adam Hoffman,
a 25-year-old Princeton graduate, who joined Elon Musk’s Doge efforts last March.

Two people who have dealt directly with the junior adviser say that Hoffman has become a driving force in the newest plans.

“The impression is that whatever those guys say is going to happen,”
said a person familiar with the process.

Even before finishing college, Hoffman briefly worked in Trump’s first administration at the Council of Economic Advisors.

At Princeton, he alleged there was antisemitism on campus after a prominent critic of the Israeli government was invited to speak at a solidarity event with Gaza.

Three sources familiar with the process say Hoffman has been soliciting ideas for a new logistics scheme in Gaza.

The Guardian has reviewed a planning document, which the sources say was circulated by Hoffman,
that details a new “Gaza Supply System Logistics Architecture”.

Labeled “Sensitive but Unclassified”,
Hoffman’s planning document calls for a
“Master Contractor” to supply 600 humanitarian and commercial truckloads to Gaza per day.

It suggests charging a $2,000 fee for every humanitarian load and a $12,000 fee to commercial trucks.

By operating as a licensing entity,
the contractor could “earn a fair return”
off humanitarian and commercial clients entering Gaza, the document says.

If a “Master Contractor” performs apace, the Guardian estimates that they could gross $1.7bn a year on trucking fees alone.
