Hace unos años trabajaba para una empresa gringa con muchos empleados y nos sentábamos en un „open floor plan“ de cubículos con divisiones no muy altas. Un día, un colega de mi grupo de amigos caminaba en esa dirección y miró en el ángulo correcto y brevemente vio una ventana pequeña en la esquina de la pantalla del susodicho con una escena porno bien explícita. Fue muy rápido y mi amigo no estaba seguro si era su imaginación, después de todo ¿quién vería porno en la oficina? En una pausa de café nos contó lo que vio y nadie se lo creía, pero después de eso tal vez todos pusimos más atención al pasar por ahí y uno a uno vimos al menos una vez lo mismo y luego no más. No recuerdo si lo reportamos a alguien en este momento, pero quedó ahí como rumor. Pasó mucho tiempo y remodelaban la oficina, entonces nos pusieron a trabajar en un área temporal que solo tenía mesas grandes sin divisiones y con monitores y teclados repartidos a lo largo. Imagínense una cafetería de universidad que convirtieron en oficina temporal.

Personally, I think the current attempt to repeal Section 230 is much more serious then previous attempts due to one simple reason: Gaza.
US politicians are desperate to regain control over the free flow of information online after the role social media played in activism around Gaza.
The status quo on Israel has been threatened, politicians are scared.
Other repeal attempts weren’t responding to immediate political threats… this is a response to a very real and serious fear that social media is destabilizing the status quo, negatively affecting politicians that created the environment for the Gaza genocide to take place.
I personally believe, compared to other Section 230 repeal attempts, this one is more likely to succeed. May still be an uphill battle. We’ll have to see. But Section 230 antagonism is bipartisan. And if the Obamacare subsidies were trashed… I’m not hopeful in politicians “doing the right thing.”
