I finally had the pleasure of watching “The Promised Land” on #Max. The movie is based on Ida Jessens book “The Captain and Ann Barbara”, and the epic story has unfolded an outstanding script. Every character has depth, every scene is essential, and every act is a new surprising twist.
It is a heartbreaking drama, and a thought-provoking, timeless portrayal of life.
This movie took many awards in 2024, and for good reason.
The main character is an actual historical person, but after looking into things a little, I have to conclude that it is in no way an accurate portrayal. Just watch it as well crafted period drama.
