From an anthropological folklore perspective, both stories fit loads of common folklore signifiers:
- inhabits liminal nighttime hours
- appears human but on closer inspection is inhuman
- haunting caused by a spurned woman
- misfortune or danger if encountered
Tiktok is just another avenue for folklore to bloom
