I realized something recently, which is that we're building AI tools completely backwards.
While I was aware that there's some de-skilling happening already, I finally clicked a bunch of pieces together and decided to write this to talk about how we can do *better*
In short: Most AI tools suffer dramatically because
- We use them to short-circuit the human cognitive reasoning (and learning) process
- We use them to silo people rather than bring them together
- We then feed broken data back into the AI and exacerbate the cycle
We're building anti-human tools
However, there's a evidence-backed way to help prevent this, by leveraging how humans *work* to influence how we design AI.
To no surprise if you've been reading my stuff lately, it involves *gasp* embracing collective learning and augmenting human collaboration patterns rather than breaking them.
Originally, I was going to bang this out as a thread, but then I kept going and realized I had a lot to say about the topic. This scratches the surface, but as always... I have thoughts. Lots of thoughts. They never stop thinking. Never stop thunking.

it's ironic that actual wars are only ever fought with obsolete equipment, because we're keeping the up to date equipment in reserve for the wars we will hopefully never fight.

I liked 'The Interstellar Song Contest', the episode took a turn that I really didn't expect it to, in a good way. There is an interesting pattern forming in the themes Doctor Who is exploring during Ncuti Gatwa's run.
