I upgraded to NixOS 25.11 (unstable) because I couldnโt check for an upgrade within 25.05 โ Podman depended on an outdated version of Electron (34.5.8), which appears to be end-of-life.
I wasn't willing to override the configuration to allow insecure or deprecated software, nor did I want to selectively mix stable and unstable packages. So, I decided it was best to upgrade the entire system.

If you mean Podman Desktop, it didn't depend on Electron 34 since March. Current version uses 36.

Podman Desktop is mostly for Windows and MacOS users that are used to Docker Desktop. It's good to make them feel comfortable.
Annoyed? No โ it was an easy fix. If anything, it may be better that I use the next upcoming release. I have been working on something that I have been lacking on time with. Focusing on the next release early will mean I will not need to make changes later.

Headlines:
* with rustls-ffi 0.15.0: 2,176 allocations. peak heap of 394kB.
* with openssl 3.4.1: 308,132 allocations (!). peak heap of 2.1MB
Tested on Linux, with curl 8.14.1 and OpenSSL 3.4.1 (latest in nixpkgs) vs rustls-ffi 0.15.0
Full disclosure: bagder's measurements w/ the newer OpenSSL 3.5.1 show an improvement. It"only" performs 54,000 allocations....

Pan5008 ist eine HTML- und CSS-Vorlage, um mit Pandoc halbwegs mit DIN 5008 konforme Briefe aufzusetzen. Es kommt ganz ohne LaTeX aus und ist deshalb angenehmer anzupassen fรผr Leute, die in Webtechnologien zu Hause sind.
Eingabedokumente kรถnnen Markdown sein, oder prinzipiell beliebige andere von Pandoc unterstรผtzte Formate.
Es gibt "Profile", um z.B. bequem unterschiedliche Designs zu definieren.

@bodsch Sollte mit Pandoc eigentlich auch kein Problem sein. Es hat sogar irgendwelche Features fรผr Quellenangaben und so (pandoc.org/MANUAL.html#citatioโฆ). Ob's da schon nette Design-Templates gibt, kann ich dir nicht sagen, und da ich nie ne Diss geschrieben habe, weiร ich auch nicht, was die Requirements sind.
Ob Markdown flexibel genug fรผr ne Doktorarbeit ist, kommt wahrscheinlich auch sehr auf das Themengebiet an, vielleicht sind djot oder AsciiDoc besser. Pandoc unterstรผtzt beides.
