I'd like the monthly summaries to be an index from where I can skim through what happened. And then, expand on it by checking the weeknotes!
I felt like doing such short notes, it didn't really encapsulate anything other than "made progress on this" or "watched that and it was ok", maybe that's all u need, but, I like to know more about why I did something.

I want to highlight a really cool #museum just outside #Portland, #Oregon: the Rice Museum of #Rocks and #Minerals! A real hidden #gem! (Pun intended)
We visited last week as part of a trip to take my kid to a two night sleep away camp at OMSI. He's been into #geology for a few years, and this place blew away all of our expectations.
So the museum was the house of the Rice family whose collection was the original start of the museum.
(Not all theirs though, some of the collection , like the petrified wood, crab fossils above, were donated by other collectors.)
They built their house in the 1950s with the intent of displaying their collection, and it's a beautiful bit of mid-century architecture. After they moved out in the 1990s, the museum was opened to the public.

Anyhow, if you are in the Portland area and have a vehicle to get up to Hillsborough, you should check it out... Regardless of your interest in rocks.
We went to Los Angeles earlier in the month on a long weekend trip, and for my kid made a stop at the Natural History Museum there, for their large collection. The Rice Museum just as large, and even more engaging.

Accidentally nerd-sniped myself into doing a little reverse engineering on the weirdest camera in my collection: the Rollei SL 2000.
Managed to figure out a few things like the film advance interlock and maybe how the ISO dial communicates, but still need to do more testing. For example I’m not sure how the frame counter limit works which prevents the camera for firing

If there had been a federal streamgage upriver from Camp Mystic then any savvy iOS or Android developer could write an app that lets the user input the unique ID for that gage and then sound an alarm if the water level at the gage increases by a certain amount.
