@GhostOnTheHalfShell I am not really sure I understand some of what you said, but determining what atmospheric CO2 would be prior to the evolution of foraminifera would be incredibly difficult. Even with foraminifera, you only get an indirect measure of atmospheric CO2 levels via the pH of the ocean water (which affects the chemistry of the foraminifera). CO2 was probably comparable to present during the Carboniferous ice age, but generally during the past 500 million years it was higher than now.
Prior to the evolution of life with carbonate shells and subaerial plants, I would assume that atmospheric CO2 would be higher than the Phanerozoic because there were fewer biological processes to sequester it, and it could only really be removed via chemical erosion processes. Although there are some Precambrian hydrocarbon reservoirs, they are not that significant compared to after the explosion of life in the Cambrian.

I am aware of estimates of Precambrian CO2, but these are fraught with large uncertainty. The conditions of the Earth were so different then, that it is not really any more relevant to the present than understanding the impacts of CO2 on Venus and Mars.
