I hate to break it to you all, but modern farming means to work a LOT with computers. At home for the "paper"work which is mostly digital, on the field with proprietary systems in tractors and other machines needed. Not even mentioning the IT work involved in herding cattle or chicken. You cannot run a modern farm without being an IT person. And yes, that's also true for ecological farming.
Now if we all would join agriculture to create open source and open standards … and open seeds …

In about 2018 I wrote a pitch for "openfarms", the idea being "yeah we want to retrofit whatever is in the shed right now and let people choose/fix what they want". Be awesome to see it happen 😀
With open geospatial stuff / field mapping tools down to GNSS parts the entire tech part of agriculture can be open source already.
(yes I understand enough about both modern tech and 70 year old diesel tractors to know it's not that simple ;). That's where getting paid comes in)

I have been using KDE Plasma on a touchscreen device of one form factor or another (2-in-1, tablet, phone) for most of the last ten years. KD Plasma has /almost/ reached MS Windows Vista feature parity.

This set has been sitting dormant for years, ever since the original remote went bust after a messy battery leak. Today I finally resurrected it with a universal remote—shockingly painless to program.
Worth it, because a lot of my movies and games look plain wrong on modern LCDs. CRTs like this one render 480i/480p content natively, no scaling artifacts, no input lag, no weird motion smoothing. Just pure, era-accurate picture. And with that chunky Toshiba tube, the colors and scanlines hit exactly the way they’re supposed to.

The study compared infant and child deaths in the U.S. with the figures from 18 other high-income nations between 2007 to 2023.
"U.S. infants, children and teens were about 1.8 times more likely to die before reaching adulthood compared with young people in peer countries, researchers discovered.
"For babies, the two causes of death with the biggest gaps between the U.S. and the other countries were prematurity — being born too early — and sudden unexpected infant death.
"For children and teens, the biggest gaps were in firearm-related incidents and car crashes.
"Since 2020, gun violence has been the leading cause of death for U.S. children and teens. Firearm death rates among U.S. kids have more than doubled since 2013.
"Many of the deaths from prematurity, firearms and sudden unexplained infant death are preventable, three physicians argued in an op-ed published after the new report.
"Those three causes of death are up to four times more likely among Black youth than their white counterparts.
"The authors estimated the mortality gap between the U.S. and other countries claimed the lives of nearly 316,000 children and teens between 2007 and 2023."
