A man with a full dark beard and wire-rimmed glasses looks wide-eyed and directly at the camera, holding a tall glass of golden beer with a foamy head. He wears a dark blue, short-sleeved tropical shirt patterned with palm trees and sailboats. He is seated outdoors under a wooden ceiling adorned with string lights, with lush green trees visible in the background.

My only thought for today

We are at rock bottom and lack perspective, so it can be hard to view what we are going through with normal human eyes. But in the future, normal human eyes *will* demand complete accountability for what is happening in Gaza. Our view of humanity is so jaded that it can seem impossible to believe accountability will happen, but it will. This is a holocaust. Netanyahu is one of the greatest monsters of history. Zionism is murdering, starving, abusing, and torturing the innocent in vast numbers, in a systematic program of extermination. And to answer the prevalent trope, this is not anti-Jewish. Zionism is also murdering Judaism. This we know, and there *will* be full accountability. Only those who believe our humanity shall never return could say otherwise. The future will demand answers. Why did all of our governments across the West support this Zionist genocide, this holocaust, regardless of political persuasion? How did the entirety of the media turn a blind eye and act as the perpetrators' propagandists? How did every platform, every outlet, hide from us the broken bodies of babies? who decided what? So many lies will be exposed, and the answers will shake the US hegemon and its allies to the ground, as well as leading to the imprisonment of many currently respected figures . It is over. We just don't yet know it. And what each of us does now, how everyone is responding to this holocaust right now, is the truth of us as humans. Never will we know a greater test of our character that measures each of our strengths and weaknesses. What is happening in Gaza and to Palestinians right now will echo for decades, perhaps for centuries. The future *will* know us, even if we do not know ourselves

Property technology broadly refers to the use of software, digital platforms, and other digital tools used in the housing market. Property owners and renters use these technologies for functions including advertising, touring, leasing, and financial management of rental housing. These tools may incorporate computer algorithms and artificial intelligence.

Selected Property Technology Tools Used in Rental Housing

Property technology tools used for advertising, tenant screening, rent-setting, and facial recognition have both benefits and risks. For example, facial recognition technology can enhance safety, according to three industry associations and all 10 of the public housing agencies in GAO's review. However, these tools also may pose risks related to transparency, discriminatory outcomes, and privacy. For instance, potential renters may struggle to understand, and owners to explain, the basis for screening decisions made by algorithms. Facial recognition systems also might misidentify individuals from certain demographic groups, and property owners might use surveillance information without renter consent, according to advocacy groups GAO interviewed.

The four federal agencies took several actions to address these risks. To combat alleged misleading and discriminatory advertising on rental platforms, agencies pursued legal action and obtained settlements requiring changes to advertising practices and improved compliance with the Fair Housing Act. They also took enforcement actions against tenant screening companies for using inaccurate or outdated data.

However, all 10 public housing agencies stated public housing agencies would benefit from additional direction on use of facial recognition technology. The Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) current guidance to these agencies is high-level and does not provide specific direction on key operational issues, such as managing privacy risks or sharing data with law enforcement. More detailed written direction could provide public housing agencies additional clarity on the use of facial recognition technology and better address tenant privacy concerns.

@LOG

Avevo già ideato un titolo, The Analogue Dolphin.

A woman goes to a newspaper stand every morning looking at the front pages, but never buys one.

One day, the seller asks her about her routine.

"Oh, I'm looking for an obituary."

"Those tend to be on the back page, though."

"The one I'm waiting for will be on the front page."

US | Delta agrees to pay $79M to settle lawsuit after jetliner dumped fuel on schools

Delta Air Lines has agreed to pay $79 million to settle a lawsuit filed in 2020 after one of its airplanes experiencing engine trouble dumped fuel over schoolyards and densely populated neighborhoods east of Los Angeles.

Rescued some camera gear.
It was a Pentax ME with a set of lenses. It was found in an attic with no info. Not working was the tone.
Collected the camera and the lenses.
After close inspection, the thing that kept the camera from doing camera stuff was,.... A pair of batteries inserted the wrong way.

Today I replaced the mirror damper.
Let's put some short Fomapan 200 inside of it.

I think Windows is trying to gaslight me, my mouse speed is all wrong even though none of the settings changed.

Maybe it's a sign I've slipped to another dimension. A dimension where the only difference is that mouse pointers move and statesmen die a little faster.

The tendency of American cultist consumers to follow fads like lemmings off a cliff is going to make this as prevalent as plastic slip covers once were. The only good news is that you'll always know a cultist's house when you walk in. #politics

There were already two new gravitational-wave candidates today – so far.

S250830m, if real, most likely came from a merger of two black holes 12 billion light-years away.

ℹ️ gracedb.ligo.org/superevents/S…

S250830bp, if real, came either from a merger of two black holes (84% probability) or from a merger of a black hole with a neutron star (16% probability). The distance is “only” 1.4 billion light-years. The sky position could be determined quite accurately (to within 10.5 square degrees).

I really dont understand how people can be so heartless and live their lives without empathy and compassion for others, when every single day, whether one realizes it or not, we all need help in some way every day, and some of us need lots of help, and sooner or later we all need lots of help, yet so many, most go everyday willfully ignoring the pleas for help from those in need.

This #disabled man existing in #poverty still needs $1480 This month, please help today, Lets See If We Can Come Together And Raise At Least $500 Right Now, It wont take care of everything but it will be a big help, I need to pay rent and buy #food yet this month, your prompt and compassionate support will be greatly appreciated, $5-10-15 It All Helps, via #cashapp at $woctxphotog or via #paypal at Donate Now Thank You

Meghan Trainor beglückte die Welt 2014 mit „All About That Bass“. Ich komme euch mit „All About The Feed“.

If you remove/mute the sound in a video when editing it and then upload, the server will magically make it a GIF 😮
in reply to Mastodon•ART 🎨 Curator

Nitpick: It'll keep it a video, it'll just label it a GIF, because apparently "GIF" these days means a mute video xP Mastodon also turns actual GIFs into videos and calls them GIFs.

By uploading it as a video to begin with, you're avoiding the double quality crunch (hi-def art -> GIF palettising -> video encode).

I'm surprised this displays as a video since there doesn't seem to be sound. Maybe there needs to be no audio track at all, not even a silent one?

"In the end then, the silence of the AI Ethics movement towards its burgeoning use in the military is unsurprising. The movement doesn’t say anything controversial to Washington (including the military industrial complex), because that’s a source of money, as well as an invaluable stamp of importance. It’s fine—even encouraged—to make veiled digs at China, Russia or North Korea, at the “bad actors” it sometimes refers to, but otherwise the industry avoids anything “political.” It also mostly frames the issues as centered on LLMs, because it wants to paint the tech products of its leaders as pivotally important in all respects. This then makes it a bit awkward to bring in military applications because it’s pretty obvious that LLMs have little current military value.

I personally came to AI research nearly ten years ago, from a deep curiosity about the nature of the mind and the self. At that time it was still a somewhat fringe subject, and as the field exploded into public awareness, I’ve been horrified to watch it intertwine with the most powerful and destructive systems on the planet, including the military-industrial complex, and, potentially, the outbreak of the next major global conflicts. To find the right way forward, we need to think much more deeply about where we’re going and what our values are. We need an authentic AI Ethics movement that questions the forces and assumptions shaping current development, rather than imbibing the views passed down from a few, often misguided, leaders."
