For obvious reasons, this fellow is known as a thick-legged hoverfly (Syritta pipiens; Gemeine Keulenschwebfliege or Kleine Mistbiene in 🇩🇪).
Apparently one of the most common members of the Syrphidae family, originally from Europe but now found across Eurasia & North America).
And yet it's the first time I've knowingly seen & photographed one 🤷♂️

About a year ago, I had some notions about creating some folklore-themed PeerTube videos, but the longer I pondered this, the more I hesitated. The effort would be massive, with the biggest being doing the captions manually because automated captions would not work for my thick German accent. And posting videos without captions would go against the Accessibility standards of the Fediverse.
Maybe I will make an attempt at a future date, but for now, I am shelving them. I should concentrate on finally getting my third book out, anyway.
