Described what a friend of mine did as "non-recreational computer touching" to some friends last night at a bar.

Forgot that not a one of them is here, on the Good Social Network, and had never heard the term "computer touching" before.

The howls of laughter were pretty entertaining.

I am too tired to be my family’s IT support desk right now.

Haunting Ghost Sculptures! (12 Photos)

Perched above Lake Como, the Castle of Vezio (Varenna) hosts an ever-changing display of ghostly figures—life-sized sculptures that seem to linger between worlds.

Each summer, visitors craft these eerie forms from gauze and chalk, leaving behind spectral guardians that silently watch over the lake.

As autumn fades to winter, the elements reclaim these fragile apparitions, ensuring that no two seasons look the same. This ephemeral tradition transforms the medieval ruins into a hauntingly beautiful blend of history, art, and imagination—where every visitor leaves a ghostly mark on time.

A Silent Watcher Over Lake Como

A ghostly figure leans forward against a stone railing, gazing endlessly over the waters of Lake Como. The flowing white fabric, shaped by time and weather, gives the impression of a lost soul frozen in place.

A Haunting Presence in the Castle Ruins

Seated on the edge of an ancient stone wall, this spectral sculpture appears deep in thought, its hooded form blending into the medieval surroundings. Its hollow face and draped fabric create an unsettling, almost lifelike presence

Guardians of Vezio

One of the many ghostly figures scattered around the Castle of Vezio, this statue appears to stand watch, its faceless form turned toward the horizon. Over time, the elements will erode it, leaving only a memory behind.

While loading the kayak I took this photo of the sky. The feathery clouds and a faint halo around the sun stayed with me while I was on the lake.
I shared the lake with a Loon and a Belted Kingfisher. And, since it is a long weekend, with a few motorized boaters. Some of them don't care about the wake they leave behind when passing a kayak.
But since they are so fast, I still quickly had my peace and quiet.

Public toilets make cities more walkable. Cities that are working on the Transition need to consider opportunities for making toilets available to pedestrians and bikers.
in reply to Evan Prodromou

Besides encouraging active transportation, public toilets just make people feel like they're part of something bigger. That the city they live in recognises their basic needs and is competent enough to accommodate those needs. It's great for social cohesion.
in reply to Evan Prodromou

Well said — it’s such a simple piece of infrastructure, but it really communicates respect and care for the people who live in or visit a city. A small investment with a huge impact on dignity and community. 🚲🚶‍♀️🚻
in reply to Evan Prodromou

Fun fact: Rotary International is responsible for the first public toilets in Chicago in 1907. Back then "the city they live in" wasn't into the biz of public comfort, or sanitation.

A lot of the public infrastructure that people take for granted today is the result of service clubs formed at the end of the 19th and the start of the 20th centuries.

LIBERALS: "Why does the right keep voting against their own self interest??"

THEY DON'T. Let me explain.

Their interests include racism.
They voted for the racist.

Their interests include white supremacy.
They voted for the white supremacist.

Their interests include misogyny.
They voted for the misogynist.

Their interests include transphobia.
They voted for the transphobe.

Their interests include fascism.
They voted for the fascist.

YOUR interests are equality and prosperity for all people. They voted against YOUR interests. They voted FOR theirs.

I have filmed both inside in the studio and outside on location, and that creates some very different videos.

If you were the producer of my YouTube show, would you focus on more inside studio episodes or more outside on location episodes?

Please answer the poll below and hit reply to clarify why.

It’s difficult to articulate why I prefer outdoor videos. I can summon the difference inside myself by remembering each of the two photos you provide above. The outdoor pic has a calming effect that enables greater attention to what you are saying. The indoor pic engenders a bit of tension. The same is true with Anders Puck Nielsen’s videos. My headspace is more relaxed and open when he is outdoors. That said, I watch all your videos, no matter where they are set! Thank you!

"This is Randahl Fink, streaming live from Red Square!!" *running furiously*

Maybe do that with studio effects.
