The second reason why a correction is overdue is the fundamental assumption that huge capital investments are necessary to maintain progress. Billions are being spent on data centres and expensive graphics chips. But in reality, there is no competitive advantage to this, or in the jargon, there’s no “moat” for a business to defend. When Victorian railway companies like the LNER built lines and locomotives at great expense, they could control the trade conducted on them. Later, patents and trade secrets allowed pharmaceutical and software companies to justify huge R&D expenditures, although both had to grapple with piracy. But today every generative AI feature or technique is copied by competitors instantly, within days. Open source models are built specifically to be copied by other people. So a billion dollars of capital expenditure training an AI model suddenly looks like a terrible and stupid waste of capital. Meanwhile the Chinese are focusing on performance, and producing AI models that run well at a hundredth of the expense. We have yet to see this reality reflected in the equity market. Here in the West, we may have backed the wrong kind of AI.
And OpenAI’s launch of GPT-5 put paid to the notion that if you spend lots more money, you get much better results."

The mayor of Chicago has signed an executive order outlining how the city will attempt to resist Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
Brandon Johnson pushed back on Saturday against what he called the “out-of-control” Trump administration’s plan to deploy large numbers of federal officers into the country’s third-largest city, which could take place within days.
The Chicago police department will be barred from helping federal authorities with civil immigration enforcement or any related patrols, traffic stops and checkpoints during the surge, according to the executive order Johnson signed.

No modelo "zero trust" as transações são compartimentadas. Se um bandido acessa o sistema, o dano é restrito ao compartimento afetado, sempre com volumes financeiros limitados. A tragédia e a farsa indicam que a arquitetura de segurança financeira no Brasil hoje não serve e precisa ser redesenhada. Que adjetivo qualifica a história quando ela se repete pela terceira vez? Espero não descobrir."

I’m excited to share UVT-RS, my first project in #Rust

It’s a collection of crates to work with Uncrewed Vehicle Trajectory (UVT) files, from reading, writing, and generating files with #ROS bags & MCAP, to visualizing them in 2D and in 3D.
I learned a lot about Rust packaging and rosbag internals while building this, and I look forward to using Rust even more in #Robotics

in reply to Miguel Espigado • • •- Busca material que hayan compartido otros profes y modifícalo a tu gusto. Ponlo a prueba, decide qué te funciona mejor y qué no. Hay ideas estupendas que muchos compis han colgado por ahí.
- Crea algo de material propio, pero evita el propósito de usar solo material propio. Es imposible e innecesario. Dedica ese tiempo a hacer buenas correcciones.
- Que no te funcione una dinámica/ficha/actividad en un grupo no significa que sea una mala actividad. Cada grupo reacciona de forma diferente, tal vez en otro momento funcione en otro grupo o en otro nivel.
- Sé flexible con tu programación y no te tortures por el temario no explicado. Lo importante es que asimilen bien lo que has podido explicar.
- Comparte tus emociones y vivencias con el resto de docentes i del personal. Evita vivir los momentos malos en soledad.
- Y sobre todo: está bien equivocarse.

in reply to Miguel Espigado • • •En Ávila, Soria(no la conozco pero es de tamaño parecido) y Segovia no se necesita coche a no ser que te metan en un pueblo de las cercanías.
Son ciudades que son muy pequeñas y te puedes recorrer punta a punta en 30 minutos andando. El resto son más grandes.
